Safe travels and happy trips to all who are going! Definitely want some pics! I'm going to be lazy today, hopefully catch up on mail and my threads!

afternoon all...

I just talked to Wendy and she is doing well.

She told me that she is doing Physical therapy right now and she is super sore.

2 days ago she was giving permission to only wear her neck brace when she sleeps...She was very happy about that.

She misses everyone and thanks us all for the good thoughts.

Good afternoon everyone, it's a little slow around here. Some pictures would be nice.... :rolleyes1

I found time yesterday to get my hair cut (hadn't been done since the end of September!) and while I was sitting there I was thinking about my father. Daddy died 19 years ago yesterday and that was the catalyst for our Christmas trips to WDW. We were all together in Pennsylvania that year, of course. And we tried again in 1993 and 1994, but it just didn't work. He "was" Christmas in our family and with his absence we just couldn't make it work right in Pennsylvania any longer. We tried a year here in Virginia but it was so quiet that we couldn't stand it. But the summer of 1996 we took our first trip back to WDW to celebrate the 25th and I found the AOL Disney Boards and read about all the wonderful things that happened at WDW during the holiday season. So, I booked a trip for the girls and me to go back in December. Bob wouldn't go "twice in one year" so we went without him. What a magical time! We did the Christmas Party, the Candlelight Processional and the Jolly Holidays dinner at the Contemporary ballroom. I was emotionally ready for Christmas that year for the first time many years.

We came home on Christmas Eve afternoon and Bob picked us up at the airport. When we got off the plane Kristin said, "Daddy, we are going to go back next year but we are not coming home until after Christmas. So you better decide to go with us!"

Thank goodness he did. Our past 15 years of going to the most magical place on earth have been so wonder-filled. I cannot imagine how we would have made Christmas right again without those memories.

This year we are having a different Christmas again. It will just be three of us since Kathrin is going to Portland, Oregon with Chris to meet his family. She had planned to make a stop here on her way back to Boston, but airfare costs are just too high, so we won't see her at all. That is going to be tough. We have been together for the past 33 years. A new "normal" begins, I suppose. Kristin and her room mate will spend time with us and we will make some new traditions.

I have had time to slowly decorate the house and shop for presents and do some holiday cooking. (Stress level is down!) And as I sat there yesterday thinking about my Dad I remembered how much fun he had having that 14-foot Christmas tree delivered to the house every year. And how much "fun" he had putting it up so the three of us kids could decorate it. I could almost smell that tree. Suddenly, I had to have a REAL tree for our Christmas. I stopped at our produce stand on the way home from the hairdresser and found just the perfect thing. He is about 7 feet tall and lopsided and had a grapevine twirled around his entire trunk. The young couple working there cut the bottom off the trunk (which is oval shaped!) and put him in the trunk of my car. I was able to get him onto the front porch and will set him up today. I cannot wait to have that Christmas smell of old in the house again. The memories will come flooding back and it will be wonderful.

 That is such a sweet story.

I wanted to tell you all something:yay: I didnt have a chance to get on here to tell you all ahead of time...BUT, I was invited to co-host todays WDW Tiki Room Morning Show on Sorcerer Radio.:woohoo: We taped yesterday and it aired this morning...If any of you are Sorcerer Radio fans (and you really all should be:rotfl:) my episode replays tonight @ 7PM EST!

:cool1:

Elin,
That was a beautiful story it brought tears to my eyes.

Christmas has been pretty melancholy for us. My partner was raised by psychopaths. Her mother was a complete nut job and her father was just a real piece of work. Her mother really should have followed those instincts she had, and taken the three year old and ran, but folks just didn't do things like that in those days. As a result, many years of therapy have turned Fran into a wonderful person, but she has never enjoyed Christmas. Their family never celebrated it, in fact her father became meaner and drunker at the holidays, so she never really has enjoyed it as much as I have tried to make happy memories.

A few years ago my sister and her family moved away from my parents area to Seattle. Because of Fran's RA, she can't visit such cold climates in Winter as her joints freeze up and she can't move. Now we split the holidays between my sister with my parents. The one who gets them at Thanksgiving is alone on Christmas. This will be our second Christmas since Fran's parents are both gone and we're planning on going to Las Vegas, we're at Disneyland on NYE. I'm hoping that we can start making some happy memories.

Earlier this week she broke down in tears about how much she hates Christmas because it reminds her that her family was so dysfunctional and she's never had any friends to spend it with make it fun. :sad2: With all her health problems this Fall, it's made this a very difficult holiday season, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting away.

Happy Sunday morning from WDW, Js & Ks! :goodvibes

We arrived yesterday around dinner time. Not staying at AKV this trip (shhh!) but hope to get over there to see the decorations and enjoy a Zebra Dome or two! :cloud9:

Tori and I are going to the Allears Everything's Ducky event this morning; CP later today to stalk, uh, I mean see NPH!!! :woohoo:

Wishing you all a wonderful day! I may check in again, but no pics until after we're home.

Did anyone respond to this yet? When I was there last it was still only a baby Mr. Coffee, but I'm pretty sure it's been changed since then. (this past January) Anybody know the answer? I know when Brandi went in May I think the coffee makers were different.

At AKL now (Sunset Savannah room). The coffeemakers have changed to Cuisinart dual brewers. They take prepackaged pods of coffee.

Have fun! When do you see Diana? And is she solo this trip or with a "child" in tow?

Good morning, Js and Ks! :sunny:

It sounds like everyone is getting into the holiday spirit and that gladdens my heart!

When I was done teaching yesterday I decorated a lot! I have so many things that have not been out in 4-5 years so I am having to pick and choose or it will look like Santa and his reindeer threw everything at our house on the way past! ;)

Bob loves colored lights  so I put 280 white LED lights and 140 colored LED lights on our little tree. It is going to take some getting used to. We have not had colored lights on our tree in the 38 years we have been married! Maybe if I put enough ornaments on it I won't see those colored things so much. :rotfl2:

Today I am getting ready to bake two batches of my Grandmother's Shortbread Cookies and then I get to go see The Nutcracker. I always feel like it is finally Christmas when our local companies begin their productions of this classic. Sadly, I will only be seeing one performance this year as I have a very dear friend coming in for the weekend. (More about that later.)

I'd like to listen, do you have a link?

Thanks:hug: Well, there are normally several options:

www.live365.com and you can just look for the Sorcerer Radio station...My episode is replaying from 7pm-9:30pm EST tonight...HOWEVER, I've gotten reports that there are technically difficulties and not everyone can get theirs to play:sad1:

Then there is :
http://srsounds.com/joom_15/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=53 But I'm not sure if it's working for everyone or not, either....They are aware of the issue and working on it.

So far the only way I know of that no one has tech difficulties with is the Sorcerer Radio IPhone app.
