Is it TRUE? that hotels CANNOT guarantee Non Smoking Rooms?? I can't believe it!

I reserved Hawthorn Suites in Lake Buena Vista bec. it looks gorgeous and the best - full buffet breakfast....

They told me they cannot guarantee the non-smoking room!
(in case someone doesn't check out) now there are over 100 rooms there (suites) but I reserved a King standard at a cheaper rate $69 (vs $132)
THERE ARE ONLY 8 of these King standard rooms!

what are my chances in October that I will get a non smoking room???

I hate when a hotel says they can't guarantee a non-smoking room. They know what rooms they have and what reservations they have pending.

I can tell you that I have never had a request for a non-smoking room not filled when I checked in. I think they just tell you they can't guarantee the room to cover themselves but I would certainly raise hell if I checked in and they tried to give me a smoking room (which I wouldn't take).

October is not a real busy time so you should be fine.

thanks! i guess i should stay at the hawthorn suites bec. they have a great breakfast - eggs, hasbrowns, (HOT) sausage!!!!!

I think they all just say that to cover their butts in case something happens, but we have NEVER been denied a non-smoking room. Plus, I have severe asthma, so we note it on our reservation that it's a health related issue.

I wouldn't worry too much =) Just try to check in earlier in the day, as checking in later at night might mean they gave them all away. ENJOY

Check in early. Are there only 8 king rooms or only 8 king rooms that are standard view? Most hotels will upgrade your view at no extra charge, if necessary to meet a non-smoking request.

Could you live with a double queen room? Some of the king rooms may be handicap accessible. Could you live with that?
