Is it too long?

staying for 2 weeks is my dream! and my secret hope for our 2012 trip!

we usually do 10 days and that's great! this year we are doing 8 b/c of DH's work. but hey, at least we're going! :goodvibes

Well i'm from the UK and 2 weeks is the norm for us.

This trip we're doing 2 weeks onsite and just doing disney.

Go for it!

OK, thank you! I thought maybe I WAS going insane, lol.

We had a TON of fun this last time, but our youngest at about day 4 started twitching because we JUST NEVER STOPPED. I'd like to feel refreshed, not abused, when we get home, lol.

That is exactly why we started trying to make our Anaheim trips longer. If it's too short, the trip planner makes her minions go go go go all the time, and the minions revolt. If it's longer, the planner can plan for downtimes, and everyone is happier (especially since the planner gets solo trips every so often so she can go go go by herself!).

And we learned from Anaheim that Orlando will have to be longer. :)

That's another thing. My in-laws have a DVC membership so I'd LOVE to be able to plan something with them, even if they aren't there the WHOLE time, but so see them, have my kids enjoy them, have some time alone with the hubster, etc. I just think that 2 weeks is the PERFECT amount of time down there.

You *might* want to check out my pre-trip report (link in my sig). :) We have DVC, we have family out in FL, they are staying with us in a 2 bedroom for 4 nights, then we have the rest of the time (including two nights BEFORE that for jetlag purposes) on our own, or meeting up with them, doing whatever...seeing Orlando, as well (DinoWorld!)... Maybe I should do a recap just in case anyone new wants to join in. :)

I would love it, my kids on the other hand start to get homesick at the end of a week. They miss their critters I guess. Maybe I would get that way too, I've never been away for 2 weeks. That, and the fact we don't get vacation pay, would be my only problems. If it's not a problem for you, go for it. I would like to try 10 days, I think, enough time that I feel like we can take it easy.

I can definitely see how sad it would be to be without one's pets for that long. We don't even have a goldfish, so there's nothing but our stuff at home! When DS was 3 he missed his stuff, but now he knows he can just get NEW stuff to bring home, LOL...plus, we bring his stuff with us, including old souvenirs...reduces the amount of new stuff he wants... :)

But pets would be hard. On the other hand, I hear they have a place for pets to stay down there...if you drove down and brought them...

Crazy? Are you kidding me?

Sounds PERFECT to me!:thumbsup2

We just got back from a 2 1/2 week trip. It was awesome. We spent 6 full days at the parks, 2 1/2 days at the parks, an evening at MNSSHP, a day at each waterpark, a day at DTD, 2 days hanging at the resort, an evening walking around the boardwalk area, a day at SeaWorld, a day at Discovery Cove, and a day at a Gulf beach. It was so relaxing to have so much time. We didn't feel rushed and had plenty of time to ride our favorites over and over, we did Space Mountain 9 times! We did drive so we had a car, and we stayed off-site in a house in Windsor Hills that we got a discount on for staying so long. If you can swing it, do it :thumbsup2

Hi,

We're just back from 2 weeks over there and didn't go off site at all. We were at Saratoga and seriously, 2 weeks just felt like no time at all.

We did take some down time - the odd afternoon nap and 1 day off but we were in the parks the rest of the time. I guess the difference is that we weren't racing round from ride to ride, and because of that I saw so much I hadn't seen before. There is so much detail in Disney, everything is my design not accident and it's very rewarding to have the time to notice it all.

My advice would be to get hold of the 4 Imagineering Guides to the parks, read them before you go and enjoy spotting all the detail as well as enjoying the more obvious stuff.

2 weeks is the least time I'd go for because from the UK it's so expensive to fly there and the jet lag means we do lose some time - so in my ideal world I'd have 3 weeks but that's unlikely to ever happen! No one here "gets it" either so just be vague when critical people quiz you - I'm sick of hearing the phrase "there ARE other places in the world you know!" Yes - I did geography at school too, but nowhere is quite like my happy place. :)

Do it, and have fun!! :D

xx

DD and I did a 10 night/11 day trip last year and thought it was terrific! Our goal is 2 full weeks- maybe someday. We are leaving next month for a 6 day trip, and it will feel like "rush, rush" compared to a longer vacation. Oh, well, we will be at our happy place- even if not for long enough to suit me.

Now as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as "too long" at WDW!

We went this past January and because of budget and time constraints had only 6 days there, the first of which we spent sleeping off the horrid flight we had. We felt really rushed and kind of in "panic mode" the whole time even though we had a plan and KNEW there was no way to see and do everything. We still had a great time though

So my husband and I are planning our next trip and because of our kids being in school we'll have to go during the summer, which is FAR busier than the last time we went. So instead of 6 days I'd rather wait another year and go for 2 weeks. We wouldn't go to the parks every day, have a day to lay at the pool, walk around DTD, play games, sleep in, etc. Plus with my husband's job it's MUCH easier for him to take two weeks off in a row than a few shorter vacations over the summer.

Well when I mention this to people they look at me like I have 3 heads. As if going to WDW for 2 weeks is the most insane thing they've ever heard of! Is it? Are we crazy?

We used to just go for 5 and 6 nites and then one years decided to go 10 days and was so much better got to rest and see so much more. Then we thought will go 14 days and that is a spoiler:cheer2: loved it we now do that every year and a four day trip o nce a year also. :yay: on the longer trip which is in 22 days now we do all the new things first and then go back to our favorites and then rest and relax and swim and just veg and then clean up go to dinner.:yay: we hate to hear people come back and still never seen so many things as they got themselves so tired but then go back and then those who ran them selves ragged and do not ever want to return:lmao: not for us were addicted for sure:dance3: No your certainly not crazy. :surfweb:

You're not crazy, and I am jealous. :D

We get to go often, and it's great and we're lucky, but someday it would be nice to just go and stay for a while - not have that hour+ drive there and home again. DH can only get a week off at a time though, so two weeks isn't ever going to happen for us.

Have fun!

No your not crazy. We usually try to do 9-10 nights as we tend to loose 2 days for traveling and you just never know if the airlines will get you there on time or not. We have an 11 night trip planned coming up. :)

I'm not sure if i could handle being away from home for 2 weeks, but i really would like 10 days. this trip we're taking next month is 6 days and it's just not enough.

I am from the Seattle area too. If you can, consider Alaska Air flight 18 from Sea-Mco and Alaska Air flight 19 from Mco-Sea. (Direct flights both ways)

If you have nothing at home that will miss you then GO FOR IT!
Sounds exciting to me.
We were away once for 2 weeks when we did 3 days at Florida relatives, followed by a 3 night/4day Disney Cruise, and ending with a week at WDW.

Great vacation for sure but our pets were psycho. They are usually fine for one week vacations all the time but our nephew watched them and he said they were crazy on the second week. One of them got really sick and was having accidents all around. An expensive vet visit on our return confirmed that she was just stressed and having high levels of anxiety.

I love my pets to pieces but I joke with my husband now that once they are gone there won't be anymore! I want to go back for longer than a week and pets make it stressful.

Flying from NY the pet resort will not make sense for us : (

Anyway, I realize I sound like a downer and that's not what I mean... have a great 2 weeks! Wish we could do it!

I would pack up and move into a DVC villa permanently if they woudl let me! :cloud9: If 2 weeks works for you, then GO for it! Sounds like a blast to me!

Six days at only WDW is enough for me but I could probably go for a few more. I don't like staying in one place as long, at least not the way we travel nowadays. YMMV of course.

We are going for 3 weeks from the first of November. A week will be spent doing Universal, Seaworld, and Busch Gardens. The other 2 will be at The World. Ihave a plan all in place and still cannot find enough time to do all we want.

This is the way I would do it if I had my choice. I'm going down for seven days this December. Day one is going to be driving two hours southeast to Jupiter to visit friends where I used to live so now I'm down to six days in Orlando. I'm also a big Universal fan so I'm going there at least one day so I'm down to four or five days which leaves me just enough time to go to each Disney park but no day do just lay around the pool. I wish I had another two or three days for a breather.
