Is it too long?

Now as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as "too long" at WDW!

We went this past January and because of budget and time constraints had only 6 days there, the first of which we spent sleeping off the horrid flight we had. We felt really rushed and kind of in "panic mode" the whole time even though we had a plan and KNEW there was no way to see and do everything. We still had a great time though

So my husband and I are planning our next trip and because of our kids being in school we'll have to go during the summer, which is FAR busier than the last time we went. So instead of 6 days I'd rather wait another year and go for 2 weeks. We wouldn't go to the parks every day, have a day to lay at the pool, walk around DTD, play games, sleep in, etc. Plus with my husband's job it's MUCH easier for him to take two weeks off in a row than a few shorter vacations over the summer.

Well when I mention this to people they look at me like I have 3 heads. As if going to WDW for 2 weeks is the most insane thing they've ever heard of! Is it? Are we crazy?

I say do whatever is best for your family and forget about what anyone else thinks! Have fun!!:wizard:

People in the real world may look at you like you are crazy, but here on the Dis you'll get nothing but envy. We are planning a 9 day trip which is our longest to date and I am so looking forward to it. Hopefully we (me) can slow down and really enjoy it.

No I don't think its too long, that is our goal for this year. We have went as long as 10 days before and still didn't get to do everything we wanted. With 2weeks you could see lots of stuff and still have time to rest and relax. I say go for it.

We're going from Nov 30 to Dec 17. 4 days will be spent at Universal. We want to be *relaxed* on this, our first, trip to WDW.... :goodvibes

But we feel that spending a week at DisneyLAND is just about right, if perhaps a bit short (spent 18 total days there last year, and still haven't seen or done everything I want to see and do, let alone seeing/doing *everything*!)! :)

That sounds perfect to me. We went on our first trip last August for 11 days (but only 9 full days since we came from the west coast and lost two days to traveling). We could have easily stayed for longer because we also felt that there was so much that we didn't get to do. During that time, we never even made it to DTD. People asked me if we were going to do anything else (go to Universal or the Space Center) and we said no, because we wanted to see as much as we could at WDW. They also thought I was crazy, LOL.

But really, 2 weeks won't feel like too long at all once you are there. Since we don't plan on going back for WDW for a quite a while (trying DCL next year, LOL), I really wish we would have stayed a full 2 weeks when we went too!

Enjoy!!

Ten days is my "dream" trip but actually any chance to go to WDW is a "dream". We have been lots and lots of times and no longer feel the pressure to see and do everything. We do try to do new things each trip (eg: new restaurants) but have managed to have "relaxing" trips the last several times. We just returned from a six day trip and really took it easy! We skipped AK altogether and went to Epcot twice ... once for first day of F&W. I treated myself to a massage one morning and we took a trip to the outlet mall one afternoon ... lots of bargains! It was a great trip and we didn't feel pressure to do anything. "We can always do it next time" is our mantra.

OK, thank you! I thought maybe I WAS going insane, lol.

We had a TON of fun this last time, but our youngest at about day 4 started twitching because we JUST NEVER STOPPED. I'd like to feel refreshed, not abused, when we get home, lol.

We're going for 3 weeks in January. People can look at me as crazy as they'd like it won't change the fact that I love Disney and will spend as much time there as I can.

If you're worried about running out of things to do. Trust me, it's almost impossible. We did 2 weeks a couple years ago and never had a moment where we didn't know what to do.

We went last year for 9 days and it was awesome. It was also the 1st trip that we did not go commando style! We would go to a park in the am, back to the hotel for swimming/napping whatever (or to DTD etc) and then back to the parks in the eve. did I say it was awesome!? If we could go for longer we would, but I would agree w/ your statment that you wouldn't spend every one of those days at a park.

Don't worry about what non disney freaks (thats what most of DH's family calls us!) care. We are getting AP's for our upcoimg December (6 days) trip and Oct or Nov 2011 (at least 6-8 days) so we are trying to plan a few smaller trips between Dec 2010 and Oct 2011 to "get our money's worth".

HAVE FUN!

We went for 2 weeks last year and loved it so much that we are making it an annual trip. I wasn't ready to leave after 2 weeks, I could have stayed longer.

I would LOVE to plan a trip with lots of family including my siblings and their children.... Taking a reasonable pace, adding in the water parks for a total of SIX parks, there is more than enough to do. I'd also enjoy the resort more. Two weeks sounds great. If I were rich or retired, I might even stay longer.....

We went for 8 days in 2008, 9 days in 2009, and will go for 10 days this December. Anything less would not be enjoyable as I'd have to cut out a lot of stuff I really like to do.

Oh my gosh i know what you mean. I wept the whole last day/way home. My kids who were 3 & 5 at the time were like "Mom, it's OK. We'll come back some day." I was inconsolable, lol.

That's another thing. My in-laws have a DVC membership so I'd LOVE to be able to plan something with them, even if they aren't there the WHOLE time, but so see them, have my kids enjoy them, have some time alone with the hubster, etc. I just think that 2 weeks is the PERFECT amount of time down there. I mean other than LIVING at the world, which lets face it I'd have to be widowed by Warren Buffet to afford!

Go for it!

Our last trip was 11 days and the best ever! I was a little worried since we have been going pretty often that we might get bored. It was so nice to leave the parks around 2, hit the pool until 4 or 5 then go to dinner and another park. We relaxed, did things we had skipped before and it was great! We finally watched EVERY movie in the world showcase and took the time to look at everything in the countries pavilions. It was a great trip for all of us!

We go for 2 weeks every year now around Labor Day time, as well as a couple of shorter trips during the rest of the year.

Just having two weeks gives you more "mental downtime" even at the start of your trip. No rush to see/do, can come back in a few days and do that later. Makes for a more relaxing trip, and you can plan a few downtime days for the pool, shopping, or sleeping in late after PM EMH.:goodvibes

If you have the time and the funds and the Disney gods have offered a good promotion, go for it. It will be a totally different trip than your shorter ones. Take time to do the few things you never seem to get around to, like mini-golf or resort exploring or talking more to CMs in the parks. Have some fun with a few unscheduled days with no ADRs, just CS when you feel like it, no schedule and no rushing around.

Do it!! our upcoming trip is for 11 days!! the last time we went in 08 was for 5 days, looking forward to taking a more relaxed trip this time.
The way we have our schedule this time is:

1 day at Discovery Cove
2-3 days for each of the 4 parks - taking afternoon breaks if needed
1 full day enjoying AKL activities and sunset safari
2 afternoons at DTD - have Cirque tkts for one night
we will be able to take breaks in afternoon if it gets to hot and still feel like we are doing everything we want.
have lots of TS ADR's made too, love eating in the World!

I would love it, my kids on the other hand start to get homesick at the end of a week. They miss their critters I guess. Maybe I would get that way too, I've never been away for 2 weeks. That, and the fact we don't get vacation pay, would be my only problems. If it's not a problem for you, go for it. I would like to try 10 days, I think, enough time that I feel like we can take it easy.
