We are going next Wednesday (1/11) until Sunday (1/15) and I am wondering if we are too late to make reservations for one of the character meals? We will be going to MK, MGM and AK. Which would would you recommend for a 5 year old boy - 1st time at Disney.

Thanks for any info!

You won't know until you call. Your best bet will likely be either Ohana or Cape May - both in the resorts (or Garden Grill, but you are not going to Epcot, so that is out), but its possible something else will be available.

MK has Liberty Tree Tavern (Mickey, dinner only for characters) and Crystal Palace (Pooh, all meals) as well as Cinderellas (Princesses, all meals). AK has Donald Breakfastosauras. I'd start by trying to get Donald's or LTT, then move to the resorts.

It can't hurt to try....
I've read reports of people making or changing their ADRs form their rooms after they've checked in.
Have a great trip!

Hi Molly41! Yes, I too would recommend LTT - we took our boys there a few weeks ago and they had a blast. They serve a "Thanksgiving" meal, so the menu is pretty limited to turkey, ham, beef, stuffing, mac & cheese, etc. We spent time with Minnie, Chip & Dale, Goofy & Pluto.

Good luck and have a great trip!

I can't speak for Character Meals, but, we NEVER make an ADR for our meals before we get there. However, we usually don't travel during peak seasons.
And as I said we don't do Character Meals, so, I do realize they tend to be planned. That said, as long as you're willing to be flexible and don't have a large group you should be able to get something, especially in January. The only exception may be Marathon weekend since crowds will be a little heavier. Oops, sorry didn't realize you won't be there until after race weekend!

It's never to late to try. I think you'll find that you'll be able to get the ADR's you want for next week without to many problems. Have a great time and maybe we'll see you there.

I'm sure you can get whatever you want! People cancel all the time, and we even got into Chef Mickey's for mother's day calling the day of!

It is very likely you will get what you want (times may be different). I would suggest Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's but Ohana is great too! Good luck!

When we were at Liberty Tree Tavern in Septmebr, Mickey was not at dinner and they told us he would no longer be there. If we wanted to see him, they told us to go over to his house in Toontown. Needless to say...I had 6 very disappointed kiddos. That was the only reason we went there! :earsboy:

For the past three years I've been able to schedule Ohanas breakfast on the morning-of during peak season. Therefore, you've definitely got a chance! If everything is booked today, try again tomorrow, and the next day.. Something's bound to open up.

I would do Chef Mickey's for a 5yr boy at the Contemporary.
You get a family picture taken too.
Napkin twrilling and song every 20 minutes.
Lots of tables - you should be able to get a reservation.
You can take the monorail right from MK to the Contemporaty.
Ask if you can sit in front with the driver.
