Is it too hectic to go from WDW directly to the ship?

We will be staying at WDW for a week then cruising for 3 days. Is it too hectic to leave WDW and head for the ship? Or would that work out ok? Most people seem to stay near Port Canavral. I'd rather not change hotels if we don't have to.

We checked out of the Beach Club after 5 nights at 11:00 am (regular check out time) and were picked up by Yourride. They loaded our bags and took us directly to the Port Canaveral terminal and we boarded the ship. Worked like a charm. Make sure you pack a carry-on bag with bathings suits and suntan lotion because your bags have to go through security and do not make it to your room until about 5:30 p.m.

Have a great time! We sure did.

It only takes about one hour to get from WDW to the Port. We always stay at WDW the night before a cruise, even if its only for one night.

This August will be our 4th cruise and we have never stayed at the port the night before. We have left from WDW in 2000 and from Universal 01,02, and again this year from Universal. The drive is not long, takes less then an hour. I think most of the people who stay at the port are ones who fly in the day before the cruise. We have a rental car so we can come and go as we please and not have to sign up or wait for shuttles at the hotel. Hubby drops us off, takes the car back and I get us checked in so all he has to do is show his ID when he gets back. Would be the same with a car service.

We've gone right from WDW to the ship twice, and used Disney transfers both times, and loved it. I know there are less expensive options, and options which will get you to the ship earlier, but this was just the easiest, most relaxing way to do it. They picked up our luggage in the morning, picked us up around noon, and by 1:30 we (and our luggage on both trips) were checking out our room on Wonder. We're doing the same thing this December.

We've done the bus transfer & driven directly from Animal Kingdom & it's ALL easy! This time we're coming straight from WDW also as it was no problem the last 2 x.
The only slight prob. we had is we thought our EZ pass would work in FL. WRONG!! So we ended up skipping out on a toll. Almost 2 yrs. & no bill yet!

dclwdwlover,

Did the bus pick you up at Animal Kingdom? If so how does one do this?

Thank you!!

Hi meg&alliesmom.

Is it too hectic to go from WDW directly to the ship?

Not at all. I believe it would prove more hectic to go INdirectly (so to speak) to the ship...
