Feeling rather silly at the moment, put so much planning and homework into this holiday coming up in October that I'm now twiddling my thumbs and feeling envious of people booking up for 2008!!!!!! Had a mad thought yesterday, in July 2009 youngest son will have completed Year 8 at school and they take them away to summer camp for the last week of term, the eldest son will have taken his GCSE's already and I believe will have finished school SOOOOO I'm thinking week before summer break starts and first week of summer holidays 2009. What do you think? I'm not a fan of really hot weather, but I would have a blooming good try at putting up with it in Florida. Thinking 4 days Universal 10 days Disney. Do any of you guys have any input on the Universal threads? I know nothing about it.

Its NEVER too early to dream..... Compulsive planners unite!

I agree totally - we are already putting things on the list to do in 3 trips time which will probably be 2012!

No its never to early to plan - it just gets frustrating when you can't book it!

But having said that, I booked my 2008 hol on Monday and now I feel a bit low as now my itinerary is final - whereas before I booked I kept changing the hotels around and it was all very exciting dreaming about all the things i MIGHT do!!!

By the way - Tessa - which Virgin Villas are you staying in? - As we've opted for Lindfield Reserve through them and wondered what you were doing??

Hiya - we went for the cheapy option - the 3 bed houses off the US27 in unspecified communities , so we don't know where, but our travel agent had been to a recent convention which booked villas all up + down the U27 and said though they do vary in quality it depends what you want - we want a bed, a screened pool and a kitchen - made a 10% difference in overall price for us against a named community- which meant we could stay 10 days instead of just 7......

Wendy ~ It's never too early to start planning another trip.

TBH the only time I am on the Universal boards is when I am looking for something particular. They are a real friendly, welcoming bunch though.

Wendy - I hope it's not too late to alter your plans but i would do it the other way round, as in 10 days at Disney first and then finish with 4 days at Universal:rotfl2: I am already thinking about next years holidays and have already dropped lots of hints about Borneo (that went down like a lead balloon:rotfl: ) or a Girls only trip again to Florida.....watch this space!!

Its only in the first ideas stage at the moment. Can I ask why you would recommend Disney first Universal second? I've more or less decided on POR French Quarter for Disney but have no idea which Universal hotel!

We're planning for 2009 too. We're hopefully planning 9 nights Disney, 2 Nights Universal and then 3 nights Disney.

As much as I like Universal I'd rather finish with Disney atmosphere. In your position I'd do Universal first.

It's never to early to start planning!!!
I say go for it!

I've been planning out August 2009 trip since we came back from WDW in December 2005 :)

Oh good, I'm in good company then. DH has surprised me a letting me even think about yet. He knows it keeps me happy being on the Dis and planning my next Disney fix.

I couldn't agree more. We went in jan 07, didn't want to return and looking at going again in 2009/10 depending on finances. Just gutted it can't happen sooner! :sad1:

:thumbsup2 Another 2009 planner! Either June or September 2009!
Only another 2 years to go! :rotfl:

We did 10 days Disney, 4 days Universal on our last trip. We stayed at the Hard Rock and even though the hotel is lovely.. we actually preferred staying at Disney! It cost us $1000 dollars for 4 nights at HRH, but we felt we had seen most of the parks after a few days.. also the atmosphere was not the same as Disney. Front of The Line Passes are amazing though.. we would stay one or two nights to get these!
:wizard:
Next time its Disney alllll the way!

If you stay in a Universal Hotel you will get FOTL - it beats fastpasses any day. We always stay at the HRH because the girls love it but last year we had a quick look at RPR - it looked very relaxing.

oh no i started thinking about 2009 as soon as i got back this febuary just not sure on what time of the year!!!

It's never too early to start planning! I've almost got 2007 and 2008 sorted, so have been debating a 2009 trip to China - with a visit to Disneyland Hong Kong thrown in, of course... ;)

BTW, you don't have to stay at the Universal resorts to get FOTL passes anymore. I've bought them online for both of our upcoming trips... :thumbsup2

In 2005 we stayed at RPR rather than buy FOTL because it was cheaper to spend one night there with 4 of us in a room than to buy each of us the passes for 2 days. I don't know if that is still the case.

It was a really good experience staying at the hotel. I really enjoyed taking the water taxi to the parks and not having to drive back in the evening.
