Do you really think people post EVERY intimate detail of their lives?
Yes. Yes I do. Obviously not everyone, but some of them post details that just do not need to be shared. And of course I can stop reading, and I do when it gets annoying. My point was that it's getting more common. It's encouraged narcissism.
It can also lead to people dropping their guard and posting information that can actually have repercussions in they daily lives. Speaking in a general "you" talking about your pregnancy is one thing. Talking about your pregnancy, and the city you just moved to, and about the new 3 bedroom 2 bathroom yellow house that you bought on a corner lot, and where your husband works, and that your dog is a big old softie who would never attack anybody, and how you're home alone on Thursday and Sunday nights when your husband works the overnight shift...
These things are seemingly harmless, but with a few clicks, they can find your house on real estate websites. They can estimate when you'll be home alone, and they can find you. It wouldn't even be hard.
Do you find pregnancy tickers annoying since they basically announce the baby's development to strangers on a daily basis? Or weight-loss tickers?
Uh...no? How is that remotely similar?
Do you think people are interested when strangers put the names of their pets in their signatures?
Bit of a reach?
See where I'm going? I think people these days get annoyed so quickly over the silliest things.
