Is it sad that I made ADR's before even booking the reservation?

Or cool? :rotfl:

This is my first attempt at a pre-trip report. It'll probably take me a few days to get the hang of this.

After reading a few of these, I think I know the drill. You want introductions, right? Well, there's just the two of us. I am Julie and just turned 36 and my husband Bill who just turned 37. He's ancient. I tell him that all the time. We got married almost two years ago and went on a honeymoon to NYC. We had a great time and I planned the heck out of that one too. Last year, we started looking at vacations after I got out of the hospital for pancreatitis. That's nasty stuff--don't come down with it. My best advice. In the process of planning that trip, my mom had a couple of massive strokes in May (we were going in July). We still went on our trip but only after we felt she was going to be on the mend. You see, she had a very experimental surgery to try to clear her blockage. It was a 13 hour surgery and it was successful to clear the blockage. The only question now was whether or not she was going to recover.
We left for WDW on Sunday July 4th. I was very excited because I had read several books (multiple times), had poured over the WDW website, and had things planned down to the minute. We were staying at POR and bought the Deluxe Dining Plan. Having just recovered from pancreatitis, I really couldn't do fast food repeatedly. Even now, it still makes me feel a little sick, just the thought of eating fast food for more than three meals in a row. We had a wonderful week and discovered what it was like to be kids again. I saw my husband's pure joy at seeing Donald Duck for the first time at Hollywood Studios. He saw me turn into a five year old when I started running after seeing Daisy or Briar Rabbit. It was magical and it was wonderful. It was so magical and wonderful, that I tried to talk my husband into doing DVC. I'm still working on that one.

We came home and my mom wasn't getting any better. In fact, she was declining. We made the very difficult decision to pull her off life-support and go the hospice route. While we were grieving, I couldn't get it out of my head that we (my dad, my brother, my husband and I) needed a happy trip. My husband's new job precluded him from going and my dad was not up for it health-wise, so my brother and I went just before Christmas. It was a wonderful trip that was a little bittersweet but fun nonetheless. We got drunk, stayed a the Polynesian (hey there, Clinta), and enjoyed meeting many characters and riding Peter Pan multiple times. I never imagined that my 28 year old brother would have as good a time as he did.

Just recently (okay, three weeks ago), we booked our cruise for Spring Break on the Dream and two nights at the Contemporary before getting on the boat. DH and I have never been on a cruise before but we decided to see what it was all about. I did actually make a dining reservation for this one before we officially booked the vacation portion of our trip. Mickey's Backyard BBQ. I've been reading some bad reviews but I really love Chip 'n' Dale. So does DH. I know I can see them at the Garden Grill but we've been there, done that, and didn't really enjoy the food. We'll give it another go on another trip. Anywho, that same night (yes, really), I started harping about the summer vacation. After looking at some very nice beach vacations and seeing that they wanted the money upfront and that we didn't want to lose out on a good deal, we scrapped our original plans and decided to go back to Disney since they let you pay it off. That's really nice. We are going on July 2nd and coming back on the 9th and are staying at POR. I made a reservation for this trip a week before booking it at LeCellier just so I could see if any were available. We liked LC from our first trip together. We got free champagne since it was our anniversary.

So, now you've met the Bugs as I refer to us sometimes. BTW, Juliebug is what my dad has called me since I can remember. DH thinks it's funny to sometimes be referred to as Mr. Bug. Happy planning! I'll try to get a picture in the next one.

Here are the two of us with Mary Poppins and Bert. I absolutely love Mary Poppins.

DH came home the other night and the asked me if I would like to go to WDW earlier. I asked him what he meant. Apparently, he's been invited to a conference the week before our vacation. Since I will be on my summer vacation, I will be able to go with him. It's now looking like we will be there from June 24th through July 9th. If we do go that early, we're going to spend two days at Universal so that DH can go to the WWoHP. I will be going to Orlando in thirteen days with my school's drill team and we are spending two days at US for WWoHP and a day at MK. We come back on a Tuesday and DH and I leave for WDW and our cruise on that following Friday. I'm going to be spending so much time in FL!!!! I can't wait!
