We have an ADR later in the evening when we will likely not want to eat a whole lot. Would we be able to split one TS credit between the two of us and share the meal?

We are both on DDP. We would plan to tip very well.

Is this allowed?

Thanks!

To my understanding, yes it is perfectly allow and acceptable, except at Viva Napolia which will require you to order a personal pizza for each person (but I think you could order one pasta meal and share)

ETA and also not allowed at set priced buffets and character meals

Thank you! :goodvibes This is just a regular sit down meal and not a buffet or a signature.

I've done this before with no problem at all. You've paid for your credits and you can use them however you'd like.

I didn't realize Via Napoli had a minimum requirement. Really? I've only done TIW there so didn't know.

LOL, when I read your title, I thought you were asking if it was rude to SPIT at a TS meal. LOL

I assume you tip as if you paid for 2 meals though, right? (Just curious.)

Weird-my reply that was there last night disappeared  Anyways, yes we do tip that way, but I'm not sure if other people do. My DF was a waiter for 10 years, so we are usually inclined to tip more if we split a meal at restaurants at home.

As far as I know, the two who want to split have to be both on DDP. Ask your server beforehand just to be sure. I do know that if one person has DDP and wants to split with another who does not have DDP, that is not allowed. Also buffets.

I went to dinner with friends at Shula's. Paid OOP. I split an entree with another guest, and Shula's had no problem with that. Brought us our meals on separate plates. I just didn't want that huge hunk of red meat, the other lady, either. I will add that our party ordered many appetizers and sides, and lots of wine and drinks, so it wasn't a money-saving strategy. :)

Thanks! Yup, we are both on DDP! Just not sure we will want to eat a huge meal at 8pm at night!

We share meals all the time. And you don't both need to be on the DDP to do it. If only one is on the DDP it would still be OK.

The dining plan credits are just a form of payment for the meal. Both parties don't need to be on the plan to split a meal. The person with the DDP credit should tell the server before ordering what the intent is. Most servers (if not all I've encountered) ask prior to taking a drink order if anyone is on the dining plan.

Disney has a rule on this. There is no sharing between someone on the Dining Plan and another who is not on the Dining Plan. Maybe you did it, but it is officially not allowed.

Here are the 2 last paragraphs of "Using the Plan Questions"

Can I share meals with guests not on the Dining Plan?
No. The Dining Plan cannot be shared with guests who aren't registered as part of your hotel reservation.

Can I share meals with other guests on the Dining Plan staying on the same hotel reservation?
There is no clear answer to this. Consistently, guests seem to be allowed to share the meals ordered on the Dining Plan amongst the guests at their table, with the exception of fixed price meals, such as buffets or other all-you-can-eat options. However, this question has been asked directly to Disney via email, by a number of guests, and consistently, they have answered this question by saying specifically that, "sharing is not permitted." Despite several attempts to get clarification about that statement, no clarification appears to be forthcoming from Guest Communications, and nothing official has been released by Disney Dining to resolve the confusion. Ask your server.

Not necessarily...For instance...my husband and I might split a meal, but we would normally order at least 2 drinks (not soda LOL) each. At say $6, at min, that would be $24 plus the cost of a meal...so no I wouldn't tip on that plus 2 meals...I would tip 20% of 1 meal and the cost of drinks.

If you wouldn't order the drinks and had water, I would tip at least 25% of the bill. I think you need to take everything into account and tip accordingly.
