Is it reliable to waitlist for extra days?

Thanks to all the patient people with DVC experience who answer the questions for people like me. I've had a less than smooth experience this time around and I'm really frustrated.

I contacted a person who had points to rent. She told me what was available for my October dates. The next day it was turned over to a company to handle the remainder of the reservation and they would contact me in the morning. I finally contacted them later in the morning, being concerned the villa wouldn't last long but was assured there were plenty available. Two days later, it didn't. I held up my end, sent the electronically signed contract right back but the delay cost me the villa we wanted. I just now found out I can get confirmed only 4 days instead of the 6 and be waitlisted for the other 2. Can I trust that it'll work out? I know everyone says it's a special trip and they all are, but this one is for us.

It really depends on where you are trying to waitlist and when. It seems like you are already at the 7 month window and that's when a lot of shuffling happens as people switch from the to home resorts to others. If you are talking about an Epcot resort in October, it will be less likely to be successful.

No guarantee at all. I find it stressful. I've waitlisted 6 times and only got it once. It really depends on the resort. I've been on the waitlist for 1 night at BLT standard one bedroom now for almost 2 months now. I actually stalk the web sight too. Now if you're waitlisting for SSR or Okw your chances are better. Good luck.

I'm waitlisting for Thurs. Oct. 8th at AKL Kidani. The agent mentioned there was now a confirmation for Oct. 7th but I haven't seen it. Anyone heard of Suitetrips travel? I contacted someone who posted points to rent who told me what was available, I agreed to 6 nights at AKL and the next morning I was emailed that it would be turned over to Suitetrips travel and now not only am I not getting the 6 nights at Jambo House I was told was available, I'm not even using the points of the person I contacted.

If you responded to an offer on the DIS R/T Board to arrange this rental, please send a PM to one of the R/T Mods.

IMO, you should ask for your money back (if you've already sent some) and cancel this contract. The chances of getting what you want via waitlist for that time aren't very good. And you have no way of knowing when a waitlist would come through. How do you make transportation and other plans when you don't know? Do you have a cash back up?

No need to answer those questions. I am really posting to warn others about sending money before they have a confirmed reservation. And unless you are working with an established broker, it's not a good idea to work with someone who doesn't own the points they are attempting to rent!

Never heard of them. It sounds like you contacted someone hear on the DIS but who turned it over to this company? Was that you or the person you wanted to rent points from? Keep us updated on how this turns out. I'm sorry you are having a negative experience this time around.
