:confused3 I've read a lot of dining reviews where people say they split meals - both CS and TS. Is this really ok? Do the servers seem to be bothered when you do it?

I'm thinking about doing this for our upcoming trip because DH and I never eat a full meal from a restaurant. The portions are just too large, but at least at home we can get "doggy bags!" LOL! We're not going to want to carry food around the parks or even eat something 3 hours after it has been baking in the great Florida sun!

We were going to do the DDP, but I am canceling it because I know there is no way we'll both eat that much food so it would actually be more cost effective to do without it. I also know we tend to eat much less when we are out in the heat and since we're going in mid-September I'm expecting it to be quite hot.

But, I don't want to look cheap or tick off our servers either. :confused3

Our wait staff has always been more than happy to split, even having the kitchen split it for us without asking. I have never run into a problem.

I split all the time at home, too, and have yet to have ticked off a waiter.

I will say that we are careful to tip on what would have been the amt of 2 dinners instead of just 1, since they are doing the work of 2 dinners.

It's not a problem at all. For the table service places, they will usually split it for you in the kitchen. I do have to warn you, though. A lot of the times, you each will get a full serving of the side. We split one meal that had a side of fries and we each got a full portion of the fries. We also once ordered one bowl of cheese soup at LeCellier for an appetizer and asked for three spoons (one wanted to eat it, the other two wanted to taste it). We got three 3/4 full bowls of soup and paid for one.

At counter service, you will be splitting the meals on your own so just ask for an extra plate.

We split last month, we didnt think twice about it, and our food came to us split. I think it is common. We did tip higher since we only ordered one meal for us.

We always split meals at WDW.

I don't suggest skipping the meal plan though.

The regular meal plan only allows on QS, one snack, and one TS per day. That means you can split the QS breakfast and lunch, then have a nice dinner. Even if you split meals, you'llprobaly still want two beverages.

If yo go like we do at WDW, you'll be burning lots of calories!

If you dine at any buffets, or family style places (LTT) you'll have to pay for two meals if there are two of you. Youcan also use two credits to dine at some top end places.

If you still aren't convinced, look at the menus and price it out. The portions at WDW TS are not that huge, and the dining plan offers some savings.

Youcan always use your snack credits for beverages.

I just want to make sure I understand this correctly....I can still split meals if I'm on the dining plan??

I would be so happy if I could. My Mum, 10 year old DD and I are going to Disney for 10 days of free dining and I just KNOW my DD won't be able to finish a whole adult size dinner, it would be so nice if we could take turns splitting meals with her!

But would this even be feasible...we might just end up with left over TS credits...LOL

We ate lunch at MM last month and the server noticed us sharing my appie salad, she brought out DH's pizza on 2 plates, half for me and half for him and we didnt even ask her to do it!

My fam of 3 shares all the time. Since WDW food is a bit expensive- and we don't take leftovers home with us- there is no way we could each eat an entree. We usually have more than enough by getting one appetizer and 2 entrees to share among the 3 of us. Sometimes we even do 2 appys and 1 entree. We do get 3 drinks, and we tend to tip generously, since the bill is lower than if we each got an entree. No CM has ever been hesitant to let us share.

Now, of course, if we are going to a "family style" service or buffet restaurant, we pay for all 3 of us. No sharing allowed there! :)

I'm thinking a child could share, but I've never tried. I can't imagine a server making a stink (unless its buffett) b/c it would affect their tip. But you get DDP based on people in the room, so unless you lie (which I'm NOT saying to do), no way around it.

I've split meals with my son, no one has seemed to care....if that is all the food you want, that is all the food you want.

Yep. You can't share buffets; you can't share at 'all you care to eat' locations (example: Garden Grill); you can't share 'preplated' meals (example: CRT breakfast); and you can't share 'all you can eat' entrees (example: Whispering Canyon's Skillet). Sounds like a lot of exceptions, but it's really not.

When we went to WDW the last time we split most of our meals since I was on a diet and everyone was always happy to do this for us. The only thing I would wonder about would be a meal like Cinderellas Royal Table??? That makes me curious because that is the one meal we did not split. Hmmm??? Hope this helps a little.

That would be the preplated meal the other poster mentioned above.

We split a bunch of meals (2 adults).....

Very rarely do I ever finish my entree, and throw in a dessert :scared:

We do double the tip, and have never had a problem. By splitting too, it will give you another set of credts to use another time.. Last time we had 4 t.s. credits left so we went into Cape May breakfast buffet (twice).

we love splitting counter service credits at world showcase....fish n'chips, cantina, etc...

Thanks, Allison! Yes, you're paying a single/set price per person to be at CRT. No savings by sharing meals.

Thanks! My son and I are going in Sept. This thread has been really helpful to us! Thanks everyone
