To rent a car without credit or debit cards? We had a major problem with our cc last time we used it to rent a car so we want to avoid that. Are there any car rentals that do this this? I realize we'd have to pay a deposit, would it be just cash or would they take travellor's cheques as well? Also, we are flying round trip if that helps. Thanks!

I know Budget used to let you cash qualify for a rental. Why not use your cc when you arrive but pay cash when you return the car. There shouldn't be a problem with that.

We rented with Budget 2 months ago and was told no CC=no rental. I would expect you would have a better time with a local company instead of one of the nationals.

Hi - just wanted to point out that a lot of credit cards automatically cover you with a rental insurance policy as a benefit when you use them for your car rental. Don't know if this applies to you or if it is of concern, but thought it might be something else to consider.
