Is it possible to just get dessert at TS restaurant?

I would love to have some Gelato from Tony's Town Square. Can you order dessert for take out there? Or can you sit down and just order dessert? I would hate to occupy an ADR slot just for dessert. So, take-out would be my preference.

I don't know about take out, but one year we did make an ADR at the restaurant in France for just dessert. I just made the ADR the same as any other ADR, but when we were checking in I told the hostess we were just there for dessert. We had eaten dinner in Mexico and were just there for the awesome desserts! I made sure to ask the hostess if this was okay. We were prepared to leave if they weren't okay with it. She said it was no problem at all.

I also worked at Chef Mickey's, and we would have people come in just to have the dessert buffet. People didn't do it all the time, but it was fairly regular and no one had a problem with it.

Sorry I don't know about carry out, but I say just make an ADR and when you check in tell them it's just for dessert.

Thanks Goofygal! But we are only going to MK this trip. I will definitely keep that in mind for the next time we are at WDW for a longer trip.

Princessjasmine, perhaps we will try that. The regular lunch/dinner menu at Tony's does not really appeal to me, but I LOVE gelato. So maybe we will just make the ADR. Thanks for your help!

The table service restaurants are not set up for carry-out meals. So you do need a reservation (or space if they are taking walk-ins).

That said, the only time I have seen them allowing take-out is if a person is dining there and has leftovers. This can include a person on a dining plan who wants to order a dessert but is too full to eat it.

And as far as going in for desserts only, here is a tread of some of this forum's better known reviewers who did a "desserts only" at Bistro de Paris. Enjoy!

There are no food police at Disney, making sure every person orders a main course! I've gone in restaurants just for appetizers, just for dessert, or for a main meal. I'm the kind of person that if I eat a main course, I usually don't have room for appetizers or dessert, so the only way I can get them is to make a separate trip for it. No one bats an eye (unless you get a really surly server who thinks you're being cheap - but that's their problem, not yours!).

You can frequently find the desserts from some of the TS places at the nearest CS restaurant. Hence, Zebra domes at Mara, pistachio cheesecake and grapefruit cake at Starring Rolls, things that seem to be from California Grill at Contempo, etc. And for less money!

I'm glad to hear that this hasn't been a problem for folks. I was thinking about trying a couple of places for appetizers or dessert, simply because we want to check out the restaurant but can't afford a full meal.

Does one pay the same price for a "dessert buffet" at Chef Mickey's as for the full buffet. If not, how is this handled?

No, buffets aren't set up to handle it like places where you order a la carte. Those are the exceptions. Any restaurant that does a la carte ordering would handle that fine. I've had appetizers and dessert as my meal at Jiko without any questioning glances. I wouldn't be able to pay a "dessert only" price at a buffet or "all you care to eat" restaurant.

ready to be flamed but I dont think that WDW gelato is the real deal....tastes just like regular ice cream to me and we have had it from CSR, BC, the little stand in Italy and from Tonys at lunch
