Is it possible to get family pics for walls?

We head on our trip in 3 weeks. I am no photographer, but I do scrapbook so I always have my little point and shoot camera with me. I'm am pretty certain I am going to add the memory maker to my package while I get the $50off option.

The last time we had a family photo shoot done my now three year old was 3weeks. My photos on the wall of my kids were take when he was under two...so I've been bugging for updates with no luck for awhile now.

I thought it would be fun if I could get a good family photo as well as some individual photos of the kids while in Disney, print them as 8x10s and update the walls that way.

What are my chances? Between my camera and having memory maker do you think it would be possible? Or am I just getting my hopes up, lol kids won't stay still in Disney long enough for decent photos?

I don't think you should have any problems doing this. The photo pass pictures should easily enlarge to 8x10. As for your point and shoot I would think 8x10 would be ok to enlarge to. How many megapixels is the point and shoot camera?

I don't see any reason you can't get what you need IF the family will cooperate! LOL. My family is extremely adverse to posing. If they catch me taking a candid, they will do everything in their power to ruin the shot! Of the thousands of Disney images I possess, only a few are of the family and I do not have one of everyone together. You may see my daughters and granddaughter, but never my son!!

A lot of if you can get what you'd consider a good family photo depends on your definition of a "good" family photo. I think less depends on if the kids will stay still if you're willing to work with them and leave yourself open to more casual, less posed, shots.

It was asked how many MP the point and shoot is. You can make nice 11x14's from a little as 4MP's, so you shouldn't have any issues with resolution unless your camera is really, really low quality or fairly old.

You will definitely be able to get a nice family photo from the photopass photogs.

I would pose for as many photos as you can with this, that way if someone is pulling a face or blinking in one photo, you will have lots of others to choose from.

Think about the backgrounds- some of the more obvious WDW backgrounds are the Castle, the Epcot ball, Main St, etc.
But there are also some less obvious 'Disney' backgrounds- like the Rose Garden area near the Castle, the lobby of one of the resorts, etc.
You might want to be sure to get some Disney backgrounds and also some generic backgrounds.

Lastly, you might want to have your family wear co-ordinated outfits on the days you plan to do this. Some people just do a loosely color coordinated thing like everyone wearing blue jeans and a white shirt, or something like that. It doesn't have to be matchy-matchy identical, but just something to tie you all together for a neat look.

Good luck and have fun with it!

I have a large format printer/plotter and I have blown numerous Photopass JPGs up to 44x36 and from 2-3 feet away (ie, no pixel peeping!), they look GREAT. 8x10 ain't gonna be a problem at all.

8x10 with any modern PnS shoot shouldn't be a problem either.

Lol ya this is where I may come across problems. I usually spend weeks trying to find the right clothes for everyone to wear. I don't like identical, but always want things coordinated. For the trip, although I am already putting the kids in cute stuff simply because its Disney, there is always a photo op. I don't think I can coordinate EACH day of the trip, and I won't know which one we'll get the shot I love.

I'm going to have to let loose a little and accept the wardrobe may end up being a mess, but if the photos look good than it will be okay. I also have to make sure that each day I get one shot of each kid on their own, one family picture, and one picture of the kids together (between myself and the MM). I know I will be able to accept if we are not matching. I am not sure I can accept having everyone wearing something different in each photo on the wall, because one day I forgot to get a picture of the kids together or such.

Lol I think I'm going to have to go with the flow, get photos each day and just cross my fingers once I'm home and putting them altogether I find the right ones for our walls...If not, well Hubby is just going to have to admit defeat and get official family shots done after all.
