My son has some big project on The Titanic that he is working on. Part of it is a PowerPoint presentation. He found a clip on YouTube that shows a 3-D type virtual tour of the ship (probably derived from the movie). He wants to add some of that to his presentation so when he shows it in class it is already in the presentation without having to click an internet link.

Is there anyway to do this?

I don't think you can unless you actually have the video saved onto your own computer.

One of the groups I was in had to do a PowerPoint for "What is Art?" and we had tried to do the same thing but couldn't. We just ended up titling one of the slides after the Youtube vid and put the link to it there.

I don't know much about youtube and downloading the videos. But if you can save the video as a file on your computer, you can insert the video directly into the presentation.

If you can't save the video, you can insert a hyperlink button in the presentation. He will be able to click on it during the presentation and it will pull up the website with the video.

I just took a PowerPoint class (just turned in my final yesterday...), so you can PM me for the detailed instructions of how to do both of these things if needed. :upsidedow

This is for PowerPoint 2007. Go to the Developer tab near the top of the screen and click on the "More Controls" button. Scroll down and click on "Shockwave Flash object" and click OK. Then you can draw the box out to whatever size you'd like. Now right-click the box and choose "Properties". A list of properties of this object should come up. Go down to where it says "Movie" and click the empty box next to it. That's where the URL to the YouTube video goes. It should start with http://www.youtube.com/v/ not http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=. And there you go. :goodvibes

Save the file, and then you have to convert it tyo AVI format. The one prgram does both, but it's a two part process. Very quick, easy, and and painless.

Just wanted to thank you and say that "YAY, it worked!!" He's very happy with his presentation now.

I did an entire powerpoint presentation with all you tube links. Just copy and paste.

Glad to see it worked.
