Is it possible to do Fast Passes the old fashion way???

I have 10 days to decide what to do about booking fast pass+ I have been reading through and I think I got it but I want to use them in the smartest way. I get that if you have early times you have a chance at more throughout the day so my questions is....is that the way it used to be. I get a time to come back later then it tells me when I can get another one and so on? So do I even have to book in advance or can I just go to the park and get a fast pass? For instance what we used to do is head straight for space mt, grab a fast pass and go right on the ride.....can we still do that?

Not the "old" way.
But, you can make FP reservations at the park(s) when you are there.

IF you want FP for the very popular attractions, it may be unlikely that you can book them if you wait until you are at the park.

Same-day FP+ are booked at "FP Kiosks" and not out in front of the individual attractions as in the past.

You can't grab fastpasses at the ride any more. You could schedule a early Space Mountain fast pass and ride standby and then go back during your FP+ time and ride a second ride. We do this often. We might schedule a 8:30-9:30 SM so we get in at 8 go straight over, ride, and then by the time we get off and back around our FP+ window is open.

If you wait until day of you are taking a gamble at what will be available.
