...:badpc: man, some people have ALL the dumb luck....

Kim its a blessing and a curse. Traffic is horrendous. I am the traffic reporter. Everyone calls me to find out how the traffic is. :rotfl:

A quick story. It wasn't funny at the time but now I can laugh about it. After 9/11 and the Yankees were in the World Series. Mind you I was saw the towers fall. Now at the beginning of the first game, they had the F16s fly over. I was so scared. the windows were shaking and I hit the floor.:scared1:

:woohoo:7 DAYS TO GO!!! I have already packed. Just have to get some odds and ends together. Hands and feet tomorrow. Hair on Tuesday. Boys get their haircuts on Fri or Sat.:rotfl:

Thanks for the link John's Mom. :goodvibes My DH and I are both fans of Indian food, so I'm sure that we will love Sanaa.

johnsonet, your advice to walk over early is exactly what we'll probably do since we've never seen Kidani.

I've only been once and barely scratched the surface :)

The artwork in the lobby and corridors of Kidani is amazing. :goodvibes

Make sure you take a walk to the Kidani pool. It's really nice. And just beyond it, is the look-out on Pembe Savanna where the Okapi and Nyala are located. :cloud9:

Sanaa looks out on the Sunset Savanna, which is usually full of activity. Make sure you get out on the overlook there. Usually a fire going in the pit in the evening and a guide telling stories (like at Jambo! :))

Oops! I was thinking Sunset was Pembe  I didn't even know that there WAS a savannah over by the pool :earseek: Cool! I had a CM on Arusha Rock tell me last year that Pembe was his favorite savannah :lovestruc

....I feel ya - we saw the buildings fall from our classroom windows....:sad1:

You teach at Stuyvesant?

...nope. In Bergen County, but my classroom windows faced the east and our building is elevated, so you could see the buildings fall - of course, not all the way to the ground, but the top of them....

I would love to see Pembe from a resort room. The public viewing area behind the pool is small and visibility is limited. The Okapi are shy and hard to see through the trees.

When I was there in June, I saw Okapi, Nyala and 4 Red River Hogs (who were right up by the fence!!) :thumbsup2

So cool!! Yet another reason why AKL/AKV is truly the BEST resort out there :lovestruc

Oh, they are so precious! I've never seen them at rest. Only running along the fences way off in the distance. Thanks for the pic!

Hi all - this seems to be the group in the know, so I'm hoping you can help out on a few questions.

1) I've booked a room at AKL through hotels.com. At the time it seemed like a great idea due to the low price. However, I've called Disney multiple times now (including direct to AKL front desk) and no one can see my reservation. I've called hotels.com about it and they say not to worry, they've confirmed it by fax and all is well - something abou the computer system won't show the reservation until 4 days prior to check in.... we will be on a Disney cruise 4 days prior to check in so if something goes wrong I don't know what we'll do!!! Any suggestions?

For the rest of the questions, let's assume the booking is fine and we are in a savannah view bunk bed room :)

2) We are staying Sep 23-25. Where would the best place to see Giraffes be? (DS5 is a bit obsessed with them) any particular room location I should request?

3) Are we allowed to go over to the samawati pool and playground if we are staying at AKL? Is it best to drive or take the bus?

I know this is a lot so thank you in advance for some help!

Ummmm, they're being dry-cleaned? ;):lmao: (You do realize that I'll be searching Cinderella's castle now for elbow length gloves.)

I canceled the mani. That's tip one night since we're on the DDP. (Hey, every $25 bucks matters at this point.) Just don't say "What animal is holding those ZD's?" when you see my picture....:rotfl2:
