Wow! That is an awesome pool view room. I would love that one but I guess it is not advised to ask for a specific room is it? After going over some of the thread it sounds like all pool view rooms are pretty centrally located (near lobby I assume) so at least that is an advantage even if the view isn't stellar.

Thanks!! and Jambo

:surfweb::goodvibes

I think I requested Zebra Trail, third floor, close to lobby. You would have better luck with a broader request like that than asking for a specific room. I remember reading a comment about a pool view room that was over a roof, so the view consisted of the roof, treetops, and a "speck" of pool. I don't remember where the room was located, but I think if you request third floor on Giraffe trail you would not be above the roof (it might have been the roof over one of the restaurants?).

Momtomouselover,
I agree with Leanne -- The rooms on Giraffe Trail would be best. They are also convenient to getting to the bus stop (there are a couple of stairways that will take you to the path to the buses, without going through the lobby first. :thumbsup2)

The only "pool view" rooms I wouldn't want would be the first block of rooms off the lobby on Zebra Trail (X408-X422). Those rooms are the ones with the Boma "roof" views!!

Quick explanation of the pottery dinner for Button: I was heating up some leftovers in the microwave for dinner. When I took the bowl (stoneware) out of the microwave to move it to the countertop it slid right out of the potholder and smashed to the floor. Button, who is always on the lookout for a people treat was Johnny-on-the-spot and started gobbling chicken casserole before I could get the darned mitt off my hand! There were two halves of the bowl and two shards about the size of a tangerine wedge on the floor in the midst of the food. She swallowed the first shard whole and this 14 1/2 year old, 25 pound, monster-mouthed and apparently cast-iron stomach/colon bearing dog chewed the other one and swallowed it. The vet had me soak six pieces of bread in water and force her to eat them. There was no forcing. She ate all six of them and was still looking for more food. Needless to say I have been on bathroom duty for the past 24 hours and so far, the only thing I can say is it just looks a little sandy. I guess that means her system broke the rest of it down! I will keep an eye on when comes out of her today too, but... c'mon Fate: cut me a break here!

:scared1: Oh my stars!!! It does sound like this will have a happy ending, thankfully. When it's all over and done and you know all is well, I think we will all have a good laugh about it!!

Prayers and pixie dust for YourBob. pixiedust: How's he doing?

Hi! AKL newby here :goodvibes. We have been to DW a number of times but have never stayed at the AKL so we are very excited!! I have booked a Pool view Bunk Bed room. Any advice? Any idea where this "type" of room may be or any room requests or view requests we should make.

Getting ready to dig through this thread a bit but just wanted to say "hello" and any advice from you AKL fans would be appreciated. :cheer2:

:wave2:

Welcome aboard.... This is a great group of people, hope you enjoy it and you will LOVE AKL:love:, it is my favorite resort!

1 bit of good news is (I'm sure most of you know I am a WDW certified Travel Agent, I just don't talk about it on DIS much out of respect for them) and my cousin called me today because she got a pin code and she is desperate to stay at the GF, so i booked her and her hubby and the 2 kids, ages 2 and 1 yr for 3 nights @ the GF:yay: The 1 yr old is my Godson and he is precious to me:lovestruc Wish I could be there for their 1st trip, but that's ok, we'll all go together in the future.
So good to know a bit of commission will be coming to me:woohoo:

Congrats and everything helps, even if just to lighten your mood. Have a wonderful day!

.....what......were.....you.....saying?

:rotfl2: I missed a couple of day. Home today because of the snow. I have to get back to my Sister about the suites at Kidani. We are seriously thinking of booking a 3BR. There will be 8 of us so...what are our options. Separate rentals, lock offs, true 3 BR suite. I'm so happy that my sister has decided to come. They have never been to Disney before. :yay:

First of all: athenna - those memories of last year are important! Keep remembering them! In fact, Bob and I talked about the night 39 years ago that he proposed to me last night.... You read that right.... keep reading! Yesterday was an amazing day. Bob woke up and made such a ruckus trying to talk to me and write on my palm that the nurses put out a call to any doctor to come and write permission to remove the breathing tube. They did and he hasn't shut up. I stayed with him for 8 hours yesterday and he talked constantly. His speech and voice have been affected (but his mind is still sharp) and I can understand about 95% of what he is saying. He is still having to use the feeding tube though, because he can't pass their swallowing test yet. When that happens he has given me a list of food and drink "wants" that spans three notebook pages. I came home to check on the dog (who ate pottery last night.... there is no end....) and to eat lunch. I am going back with renewed hearing! Thanks for sharing in my delight.

:yay::yay: Jumping for JOY! Such great news. Continued blessings to you and Bob.

I am finally caught up with the thread. I am sorry that so many of you are having a tough time at the moment. All of you who are unwell, have sick loved ones or facing other challenging issues, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I just wanted to report back about my stay at Jambo House earlier this month. In the end we got into Orlando one hour ahead of schedule. I had been a little bit concerned if I would be there in time for my 6 PM reservation at Boma. We took Disney’s Magical Express and dropped off at Caribbean Beach Resort and Pop Century on the way, but we were still at Jambo House by 4PM. Our room was ready and we had a lovely surprise. I had booked a standard studio, but they had upgraded us to a Savannah View on Sunset Savannah. I enjoyed the view for a bit, before heading down to the lobby to take some photos of the Christmas decorations that were still up.

We found this little guy in our bathroom. This gave me a real buzz.

We made our reservation for Boma with no problem and enjoyed our meal there. Boma was much quieter than I was used to. I only managed to eat three Zebra Domes as the soups had been too tempting. We then had an early night and left Jambo House again first thing in the morning to go to the port.

While we were waiting to be seated at Boma, I had a look at the menu for Jiko and I noticed that they no longer offer my favourite dish. I used to love the Fillet Steak with the Macaroni Cheese. They still do a steak, but it now comes with some potato dish. I am not big on potatoes, but love pasta or rice.

I loved this, too, especially as this could be seen as having another meaning as well. This was the beginning of a wonderful vacation. So our vacation started with this mouse.

Thanks for the tip. We probably won't get back to WDW this year as we are going to DL in fall, but I will check if this is an option when we go back next year. Having said that, DH was debating the possibility of a non-park break to WDW in late spring.
