Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

Whataboutism.

I hope everyone associated with Epstein goes down. Nasty disgusting man, and I could care less... Clinton or a member if the royal family, if they did crimes, then they should do time.

Whataboutism, well i assume that was for the Clinton reference, but if it was for my post... MM is under investigation by the palace, for allegations of bullying, Now of course the investigation is all about concern for the staff. Right? Despite the alleged behavior occurring in 2018... NOW it is super important to deal with it.... and warrant an investigation. I am sure it was pure coincidence the announcement happened days before an highly publicized interview with Oprah.

I assume she (MM) is innocent too until proven guilty.

There have been many instances of Andrew engaging in shady behavior. And many allegations and scandals, yet why wasn't any of his behavior deserving an investigation? I mean, it is not like there are photos of Ghislaine cavorting in the palace and fooling about on the throne.... oh wait NVM....

Folks can deny, or pretend just like the palace. Andrew is a class 1 creep, yet he is fine. But MM... man... she is evil LOL

Being allowed to quietly retire, his title was not publicly stripped like the M&Hs. Hardly a resounding condemnation.
Maybe you should start a thread on it. Will probably go something like this: Do you think Andrew is a reprehensible creep? Everyone will say, yeah, it sure looks that way. And the thread will end.

Or maybe if Andrew comes out and does a big Oprah interview, maybe that would spark more comments.

Or if Maxwell sings there will be more comments.

Completely different situations.

Should we also have threads about Camilla too? Diana? Thank you so much for your opinion on what I should post. This is a thread about the royal family... about M&H... and many members and their behaviors have been discussed.

I agree. when there is progress in the trial I am sure there will be threads and post created.

Andrew has already been removed from public royal life, and has lost all of his patronages. He wasn't even in the official photos for his second daughter's wedding. So it's not like the palace is turning a blind eye to the accusations against him.

Beyond that, he has to be presumed innocent until proven guilty: he's not even being prosecuted or officially under investigation at this point. If he's ever prosecuted or proven guilty of anything, that would be a different situation. And as another poster alluded, there were many, many other prominent people (including Bill Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Alan Dershowitz and Stephen Hawking) who were involved with Epstein. Epstein had huge social clout with powerful A-listers. Ghislaine Maxwell was at Chelsea Clinton's wedding, for goodness sake. Yet we only keep hearing about Andrew, likely because he's a royal and therefore his status is (was) higher than all the others. If the FBI actually decides to prosecute all of people who were on that island and were intimate with the young women controlled by Epstein, a lot of famous people are going to go down.

None of that changes Meghan & Harry's issues, though. Saying, "what about Andrew?" when serious problems with this couple are brought up, is like saying, "what about that bank robber?" when one is caught stealing a car. It's just an evasion.

Due to the DIS rules, discussion of many of those individuals that would provide juicy threads ....starts falling under the NO Politics rule.

And now 12 ex members of her staff have come out about the terrible way she treated them she was rude and bullied them she behaved in a way that isn't legal over here and yet she is claiming the victimhood. Neither can keep the patronages it would be like a worker at a company don't want to work for you but want the perks of the job. Well they don't want to do the boring parts of being a royal then stop moaning when the fun parts are not yours either.

Meghan and Harry have not been stripped of their titles. They lost their patronages, but so did Andrew. Meghan and Harry were allowed to quietly leave. They've simply chosen not to be quiet, unfortunately.

So they can use Royal Highness?

So they can use Royal Highness?
They aren't supposed to use it, but they do still have it. Andrew can't use it much, either, because he's been removed from public royal life by the palace. Like Meghan and Harry, he can be called that in the privacy of his own home all he wants, but he isn't going to be out in public with it any more than they can.

And bringing up Andrew in a thread about Harry & Meghan... starts falling under the NO taking threads off-topic rule.
Feel free to report me to a mpderator if you feel like i have broken DIS rules.

Interesting... people have been talking about Diana.. Camilla... other royal members in all these pages on and off.... no problem, But Andrew is off topic.

I specfically replied to a post that was referencing what people were saying about OTHER members of the family and hpow this made them look good.

So under your theory, we should be discussing a couple of centuries worth of royal family shenanigans? Why limit it to Great Britain? Lots of other countries who have or had royals.

Right, H&M are still using it on their website so I guess it’s still part of their “brand.”

Folks seemed fine with the discussion about Wallis Simpson....

Quit giving Meghan & Harry such a hard time! What about King Henry VIII, after all? Lol.

Henry did have some juicy activities. He def. was one of the more interesting monarchs in history, and not just out of British monarchs

That was a direct comparison of Meghan to Wallis, because they have a noticeable amount in common, particularly in relation to what is happening with Meghan & Harry right now. If you think Harry is like Andrew, and want to compare their similarities, then that's on topic.

What's off-topic is when we're discussing these two people, and someone says, "But what about this other notorious person who has nothing to do with the issues of these two people?" That's just an evasion and it doesn't further the discussion of the couple that this thread is focused on.

I agree, it is like justifying bad behavior with other bad behavior. Never ends well.
