Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

I've not seen that Sarah Ferguson interview with Oprah before. Maybe because I was younger when it was released, or maybe because it just did not have much impact here in the UK.
It all seems very jovial and friendly though. And Sarah doesn't come across as woe is me in the clip I saw. I think that will be a big difference with the Meghan interview. Oprah seems to reference back to Sarah's book (almost as if its the starting point of the interview) which she won't have had with the Meghan interview.
I wonder if (well actually I'm sure she will be) asked "why didn't you just toe the line, wear the tiara and be happy" in much the same vein Oprah asked Sarah.

Wonder if she will say but that wasn’t the tiara I wanted to wear?!?

This is a preview lol

I disagree. Sarah Ferguson has always been self-effacing, and very loyal to the queen in particular. She typically spends a lot of time in interviews talking about her personality faults and the mistakes that she knows she made. She complains about the challenges she faced in the royal family, but not in a way that implicates other royals at all.

Sarah also stuck it out for much longer than Meghan and also had a much harder time: her husband was active duty in the Navy throughout their marriage & therefore was almost always absent, while she had to learn how to navigate being a new royal and deal with a sometimes hostile press without him there to support or guide her.

And some would say you reap what you sow

How do people know what goes on behind the scenes? Nobody does. What I saw openly was virulent and horrible press about Meghan and thinly disguised racism. I openly saw Meghan give a small interview to a reporter where she seemed like she was ready to crack, but I don't know. I don't know, and neither does anyone else. I saw a man get his wife the heck out of what he perceived as a toxic environment, but I don't know that for sure. It's all speculation until I watch the interview and hear with my own ears what they say and then what the palace's statement will be.

Again .... I think for many on this thread, it isn't as much about whether or not she was treated badly, if the press were awful to her etc.
Its more about the fact they decided to ditch the royal family, still wanted the titles and connections that came with that, said they wanted a private life and then courted the media. I mean even Harry was overheard touting Meghan to the Disney CEO!

Oh, come now. We all know wearing a blackamoor brooch when first meeting biracial Meghan is just the royal family’s way of extending a warm welcome. The truly offensive behavior lies with the couple who would leave the trappings of royal life and then — gasp! — dare to give a few interviews. Let’s keep the criticism where it belongs — on whether H&M will hold hands during the interview, on if she’ll cradle her pregnant belly, how much her outfit cost, the fact that she’s wearing eye shadow.* These are all very valid, and in no way petty, reasons to decide we dislike someone we don’t actually know.

*That last one cuts me deep. Meghan’s eye makeup in the interview is pretty identical to how I wear my makeup to go to the grocery store. I had no idea I was offending so many people.

Wow my makeup wearing days took a breather when I started wearing a mask (what’s the point) but I am not being interviewed by Oprah prime time. I also don’t have a staff but that’s a whole other story.
