Is it OK to drink Wine out of a coffee mug?

As NSalz's sister, I recommend you just uncork the bottle and use a bendy straw!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That too!!

You could even drink it out of a refillable mug;)

Can you drink wine from a coffee mug?

Only if you're at work and trying to make it look like coffee.;)

Well, I did it, but it tasted awful. I had this bottle for about 2 years in the cabinet. It was Barefoot Merlot. :sad2: I am used to Zinfandel I guess.:confused3 I drank it at toom temperature, I usually like it chilled. As you can see, I am Wine Challenged!;)

maybe it would have tasted better if it was chilled. :confused3

I'd go with at least a juice glass or something. There is just something strange about drinking wine out of something other than glass. ;)

I take this a step further. We have wine glasses galore, but for some reason, DH will grab a juice glass or something instead. I tell him to go get a wine glass because if you drink wine from something other than a wine glass, it puts me in mind of an alkie. :lmao: Seriously, my family was chock full of alcoholics and I am all too familiar with the tricks of trying to pass off alcohol (including wine) as something else by putting it in "disguised" glass, coffee cup, etc. So if he's drinking wine, I want it to be clearly identifiable in a wine glass. :thumbsup2 That's my logic.

Noooooo! Never chill a red wine! :scared:

Not true. Red wine should not be at normal room temp. It should be slightly cooler. Not cold, but not room temp either.

You are supposed to swirl and sniff a red wine prior to drinking thus the fancy red wine glasses. Also the stem is used so that your hand doesn't warm up the wine. But, I say drink your wine at whichever temp you prefer and from whichever cup you have. LOL!!

No, no, no, no, NO!!!!

At least not according to my dh, lol. :lmao:

He has this "thing" about proper vessels for beverages. For example, wine must be consumed from a wine glass...beer from a beer glass...juice from a juice glass...seltzer may be consumed from a plastic cup, or water...coffee must be consumed from a regular (ceramic) or travel mug, and stored in a thermos. None of these beverages may be consumed from the wrong type of cup/glass. He will use 4 different ones in a single evening, which makes for a TON of dishes to handwash (we have no dishwasher)!!! :scared1: I've asked him before why he doesn't just rinse the first glass out and reuse it, but he cannot bring himself to do this. It ruins the taste and the experience. :confused3

Wow, that sounds sort of magical. :teeth: I guess there's some scientific theory to back it up, but do you think the average wine drinker would notice?? Not that you're an average wine drinker.;) :rotfl:

This is off topic but i'd rather have the drink in your siggy. ::yes::

Back to original topic.

I like it!
I've heard that it works for Smirnoff too... just saying:rolleyes1

drink it out of an old coffee can, if that's all you've got!

who cares, really??!!

With 2 young kids, I have learned to use a wine glass.....we have a Christmas open house every year, and 2 years ago I just went out and got some little plastic glasses, cause I didn't have enough wine glasses for everyone. DD (3 at the time) picked up somebody's red wine thinking it was grape juice:scared1: Fortunately, it tasted yucky to her and she spit it right out. Now i buy juice boxes for the kids, and make sure they are easily accessible for them!!!

Why not get zip lock bags and cut a small hole in the corner. Kinda like a poor man's bota bag. Only problem is once you cut the hole you are commited to finishing the contents.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I don't know what coffee mug/wine etiquette is......perhaps teacups for whites, full on mugs for reds, and espresso cups might to best for the bubbly stuff.;)

So that explains how she gets through those kindergardeners everyday.. :lmao:
:thumbsup2 If I had to put up with them, I would too!;) Thanks for the response and laughs everyone, now I am off to Wally Mart to buy...WINE GLASSES!:thumbsup2 I had a set of four, but now I am down to just one and its chipped, so gotta use the coffee mug.:sad2: The wine wasn't Vinegar tasting, it just didn't taste that good. Now, I had a GREAT wine from Italy at Epcot Years ago, it was awesome, don't remember the name, and can never find it over there, they sell the same crap that Publix does, but much higher in price. Guess I will start Exploring again.....:rolleyes1

I actually really like Barefoot Merlot! I usually put a couple of ice cubes in my red wine.

The book that came with my wine refrigerator said red wine should be stored (and I assume consumed) at 55 degrees. Room temperature is around 70, so don't feel bad about wanting to have it a little cooler.

If you're stuck watching an endless dance competition w/ your partners in crime, any type of drinking vessel is fair game. ;)

If you like it cooler than chill it, but don't put ice in it....that only dilutes it. You don't want to dilute wine.
