Is it ok to celebrate birthdays all week?

I just read on another thread that each park has different birthday buttons. Here's my situation....We will be celebrating my ds's 9th bday on Nov 16 and my bday is a week later on the 23rd. I had planned on doing the MK on each of these days for the bday button and "extra" magic. Is it too much to just call it a birthday "week" and we celebrate at each of the parks we have planned?

Just wanted some opinions-I wouldn't want us to seem like were trying to be greedy, but I want it to be lots of fun!! Has anyone else done it this way?

Thanks- I really learn soooo much from this board!

I've only seen birthday buttons in the MK. What are you expecting exactly? When I wore a b'day button I got lots of wishes and some funny interactions from the CM. Also offered to let me drive the Jungle Cruise boat. Personally as a grown up I would feel uncomfortable walking around all week saying TODAY is my birthday. First of all my kids would be yelling NO it is NOT. Same for them, they might celebrate one day a little late but I doubt they would want to walk around all week with a birthday button on. Whatever you feel comfortable with and whatever will make your trip special is fine. If it feels right then do it, I don't think anyone will ask you for verification!

I'm with you on that Kallison - And as for "Extra" Magic- the only thing you should expect is a few extra "Happy Birthdays!" from the CMs (If they see your button). My Son (4) celebrated his Birthday at the MK, and beyond the occasional wish, I believe one or 2 CMs announced it as part of the ride (like Jungle Book). You have to remember that there are Hundreds of People each day celebrating their Birthday at WDW. By the way- I went to Epcot on my Birthday last year (Nov. too) and they were out of Buttons! Oh well...

We celebrated DD 5th birthday on a Saturday and that was the only day she wore the pins. She got one at MGM and then we walked from MGM to the Internation Gateway in Epcot and the CM running the turnstile gave her an Epcot birthday button. She got a lot of birthday wished from CM's and one CM bought her a frozen lemonade and that was about the extent of it.

I just celebrated my 53rd birthday at WDW for about 1-1/2 weeks. I wasn't very happy about the 50th one, so I made up for it with this one. Got the Epcot, MK and AK buttons, plus the Birthday Cake hat. The best part is having perfect strangers tell you Happy Birthday.

We leave today for WDW and we'll be celebrating our son's 10th birthday all week. We have more things planned for Monday which is his actual birthday, but you only become an adult once at WDW (well, then when you turn 12 and have to pay for adult meals).

We don't expect lots of free things. We just like to hear "Happy Birthday".

I've only worn my b'day button on my b'day, but I've celebrated a few b'days at WDW. It's nice when people wish you Happy Birthday - both CMs and other guests.

I've had a CM in Buzz Lightyear make everyone in the queue sing Happy Birthday to me. At the GF Cafe, they brought out a cupcake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday. In Norway, they brought out a small cake (there were 6 of us and there was enough for everyone) and a Magical Memories certificate signed by the servers in Akershus. You never know what will happen at WDW. :)

We're leaving in 4 days, and taking some nieces with us. One will turn 11 when we are there. I planned to get her a pin from every park. We have a cake ordered for dinner the night of her bday, and I have a special t-shirt made up. The CM at group dining said if you tell the CM at the podium, most restaurants give the bday person a complimentary cupcake. She even lbeled every PS as a birthday -I didn't ask for that! (I say go for it, with what a vacation at WDW costs!) At Crystal Palace, the CM said they get to parade around the place with their favorite Pooh character. I would love to have her be the Grand Marshall of the MGM parade on the day of her bday (that's where we'll be that day). Of course, her dear aunt has to ride with her!:D i also heard that sometimes the resorts do something in your room for the bday person - like balloons and a card. (we let them know on the room request fax.) I'm hoping that she has a magical day- it's her first trip away from home, and she was afraid she was going to miss out on a bday party. (Her mom hasn't told her about all the bday plans Aunt M has made - it's a surprise.)

Any ideas how to get her as Grand Marshall of the parade on her bday? Or any other tips?

Thanks.

Weeellllll, my 54th b-day is coming up fast. We couldn't swing getting away to WDW for my actual b-day. We'll be there 2 weeks after the fact. I'm going to celebrate my b-day for just one day, probably in MK. Not looking for anything special either. Just being there is special enough for me.

We happened to have lunch at the Castle on my husbands bday. He doesn not like public attention. Well when I checked in for our reservations I told them it was his birthday. After dinner he got a cupcake and the CM gave him a challange. If he could answer 3 questions in a row correctly, the CM would pay for our lunch and the lunch of the 3 nearest tables. Well he got the first question wrong....it was kind of a trick question....I have a feeling they would of all been trick questions.

Personally, I think a birthday is just that - a day. Some of you may disagree, but I think it is a little much to celebrate for a week and in all parks and at all PS.

I think a birthday is once a year and even less often at Disney. I say get as much out of your trip and the birthday. You will always find someone that wants to disagree, BUT they aren't you. Do exactly what you want to do. Many of us Would celebrate all week. For both your child and you.

We have celebrated DDs bday 3 times at WDW and each time was very special for her.
Something thats free and really stood out for her and us was her 8th bday at MK. We went up to the Mayor on Main St and told him it was her bday. Well he took her by the hand, led her back to City Hall, and the whole way he was hollering out "Its Kristians Birthday, Kristian is 8 today". Everyone coming in to the entrance was hollering back Happy Birthday Kristian. He took her in to City Hall and got her a badge that said Today is my Birthday and he wrote the date on the back.
Thats one she will never forget!

Have fun making memories!!

This is a tough call ~ everyone is different.

I love my DD9 to pieces ~ but her birthday is her birthday - just that day... not a whole week.

If I happened to be in Disney on her actual birthday I would make that day as special as possible ~ but I would not be putting buttons on her for the rest of the days to get more well wishes.

If I was travelling to Disney 'near' her birthday date ~ I wouldn't be saying it's her birthday when it's not.

>>^..^<<

During our vacation in November my DD will be turning 9 When I called to make PS for 3 different restaurants the CM said"it is not everyday you can be in the happiest place on earth your birthday so let's put a note at each one of your seating that she will be celebrating her birthday" Who am I to argue?
We do not plan on celebrating for the entire vacation but we do plan on getting a birthday button from each park.......
It's not like we are trying to scam anyone or get anything free it is just for the memories and that is all.
I say go for it if that is what you want to do..... I am sure you are not the first one to do it and I can guarantee you will not be the last.

We are going for my daughter 6th birthday a we will be doing the birthday week. Don't feel bad or quilty. Know one but the family will know the truth. Our trip is her present so the whole trip will be filled with birthday surprises. Now if only I can found out how to make her the official MK gate opener on the actual birthday.

Yikes! I was planning on getting a button on my birthday, but after hearing all these stories, Im having second thoughts. Yes it will be my birthday, but I didnt think I would actually get all this attention. I dont think Id like that.

We will be celebrating DGS 6th Birthday, we have a PS for Chief Mickeys and then a Birthday cruise booked for the same day. I am going to get him a Birthday Button, we will not celebrate it all week, but what a BLOW-OUT he's gonna have for the day :teeth: I feel it's your call on celebrating all week....we won't because his DS 7 and his younger brother 3 wouldn't understand why his B Day lasts for soooooooo long and there's doesn't. However if it were just him then who knows.we just might celebrate all week also ;)

I celebrated my birthday during our last trip a few weeks ago. I got a button and pinned it on my lanyard. It stayed there all week, mainly because I forgot I had put it there, then someone would wish me a happy birthday, and I'd remember I was still wearing my pin:D The coolest thing was during our ride on space mountain when the CM's sang to me over the intercom system during the ride.:D Birthdays are what you make of them- have fun whatever you decide to do!

I knew I would get an array of answers here. I would very much just like to have the buttons from each of the parks, but only for souvenier purposes. We will celebrate our bdays only on the actual dates, we are fortunate to only have them a week apart, so it will still be twice as much fun!!!

Thanks for all of the input.
