Is it ok for "runners" to really run?

I'm the designated runner - because I'm the only one doing the research. Is it ok that I run/jog to the FP spot? Assuming it is possible with the crowds.

Leaving DH with the kids in line somewhere.

Are their many ques where I can't end up finding them? Specifically I'm trying to decide whether or not to have them stand in the Nemo line at the :50 mark of MM while I run to IJ for FP (for the DD10s must do ride.) (others are DD5 and DS2).

I found myself jogging on a couple of occasions when there was enough space, but otherwise I was our designated speed walker when we went off to get fastpasses.

My son has a full ride scholarship in college for track- guess who we send to gather fastpasses for our family :rotfl: He has been known to "bust out the quicks" from time to time, but usually a light jog is his speed, main thing is to be careful and respectful of the leisurely folks strolling through the parks.

CMs will ask you not to run, for safety reasons and out of courtesy to others. Really, though, I'd say there's no reason to. You can do a power walk just as well. "Walk with purpose" is how some of us put it. :) If you are moving at a strong, steady pace you'll get around in plenty of time without wearing yourself out. (anybody else find that it's not the "brisk" walking that really tires you out-- it's the strolling and standing? I can walk briskly for miles, but put me in a mall at a strolling pace and I'm ready to sit in half an hour! :rotfl:_

As far as open-ness of queues, Nemo is pretty open. You might have to step over a few chains, but you should be able to get up to where they are, with a few polite "Please excuse me, my family seems to have gotten away from me up there" kind of comments.

Personally, running can be dangerous for others around. You never know when someone will stop suddenly, or a stroller will come out of no where. I would just walk with purpose to the destination.

I agree. I have been run into before and it makes me very NOT happy. There is NO running in disneyland! Seriously will the extra min you save really be worth it? I speed walk but will not run. If I find myself wanting to jog I start laughing because I'm asking myself "Do you seriously need to run in Disneyland?" :rotfl:

Speed walking is about all that is possible with the crowds. Personally I speed walk faster than my jog so it works :lmao: Nemo should be fine to find the family in the que as it is very open.

If you really need to run, do so on a clear path. Some of the congested walkways around Fantasyland and Matterhorn are populated with small children, many who run amok from their parents. It would be bad to run one over.

Please do not "run", please walk with purpose and pay attention to your surroundings so you do not run into or over anyone who may be walking as well. Running is dangerous in DL, it's very crowded and someone could be very hurt. I understand the desire to get FPs but I'd hate to see anyone get hurt. :)

The Nemo que is very open so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding your group. At the very least (or worst) you could stand with the CM at the front, let them know you are trying to catch your family who is in line and they will let you wait with them until your fam gets to the front of the line. :)

All excellent points. Advice taken.

Brisk walk with a purpose - no more.

And I love the line "my family seems to have gotten away with me."

my kids have been bumped really hard by people running before (and my kids weren't running "amok", they were walking right beside me while i held their hand). it seems a lot safer if people would speed walk rather than run.

it really hurts a 35 pound kid to get slammed into by somebody who outweighs them by more than a hundred pounds and getting stepped on by somebody who is 3 feet taller is no fun, either. getting run over by someone of adult size can really put a damper on a day at disneyland for a little kid.

i'm sure people don't collide with others on purpose while running, but walking fast just gives one more time to react if they suddenly realize they're about to hit somebody.

The security folks and CM will ask you not to and really there is no reason to. When Nemo first opened there were many collisions caused by people running and/or pushing the strollers with no control.

I'll be curious how your strategy works.

- :50-:53 leave family at Nemo & walk to Indy.
- Walk (with a purpose) on the walkway between the Matterhorn & Buzz to the HUB. (avoiding the traffic entering Tomorrowland)
- Get to the rope in front of Adventurland at :57 -:58. Note: the rope is 20-30 yards ahead of the rope on Main St. & gives you a 20 second head start in front of the hordes lined up on Main St.
- Just past the Jungle Cruise (on the left) BEFORE you get to Indy is the Indy FP machines.
- Return to Nemo & ride with family.
- Upon exiting Nemo the runner then snags FPs for SM (since you're nearby & it will likely be at the :45 min. mark after gen. adm. opening).

Let us know how it goes. :)

Although I'm sure Hound wants you to follow through on your plan out of curiousity, reading his post made me really think about it. Honestly, I'd try Nemo earlier, then head over to IJ to simply ride it once the whole park opens. Or have Indy on a non-MM day, getting there early and heading there. Most people "turn right" and go to Tomorrowland...the no-MM people go to Nemo or Fantasyland, others go to space, etc...I've never had a problem turning left and going to Adventureland very first thing on a non-MM day!

And if you were OUT of the MM lines and in the line waiting for ADventureland at the end of MM, you could probably take advantage of fewer people going to Adventureland, b/c of all the MM-goers being stuck in those lines. :)

If you run then it will be difficult to eat the churro you are entitled to as fastpass runner.

I used to always do Adventureland first as a kid as Dad knew that section always was least busy in the morning.

I was shoved and hit the ground by a runner in DCA. It is not just little kids but some guests are fragile like me and one shove and OUCH. There are people recovering from surgery, who have pumps, and who are neurovariants that freak out when they have people darting at them full speed. I have to control my ECV driving because I so want to speed past people but cannot do so without risking hurting people.

I mean absolutely no disrespect with the following.

This has to be one of the funniest threads I have read on DIS in a long time. Are we seriously discussing if FP runners can run?!?!? :rotfl: Sometimes questions here crack me up!

Note to HydroGuy: From now on your FP advice must read: "Have a designated FP Fast Walker get your next FP as soon as possible." hehe

Gotta love a place where you can ask anything. :wizard:

Both good plans...I just needed a plan for the older one....I figure a FP could possibly be used when the wee ones tuckered out. I'm trying on our Day 1 (Tues MM) in case IJ breaks down.

And if a tree falls in Adventureland and no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?

Technically Disney's policy I believe is no running in the parks, however Ive seen lots of people doing it.
