Is It Me Or Is Anyone Else Sick Of Illuminations

DH and I love Illuminations. It's one of the shows that now routinely brings a tear to my eye. I too have the music in the car. DH and I have sometimes missed Fantasmic by going on "just one more" trip on RnR. In August we did SRO for the first time at Fantasmic, and DH was super, held a little girl on his shoulders so she could see. Boy did his back pay the price for that good deed!

Our first choice is always Illuminations, but we enjoy Fantasmic too.

Our last trip we saw Illuminations 4 of 7 nights in the parks - we can't get enough!! The music (which we still listen to frequently), the fireworks, the globe...all combine to make one heck of a show!

I love Illuminations too! Unfortunately it is difficult to find a spot to actually enjoy the show. Twice we arrived very early to claim a good spot. About 20 minutes before the show we were surrounded by rude people who actually tried to make us feel
guilty because we had seats. It was very uncomfortable to have these people breathing down our necks for the whole show.
This past April I decided to make ressies at the Rose & Crown to avoid the mob scene. We ended up at an inside table, and the patio was so crowded it was pointless to even venture out there to see the show.

.:(

I enjoy both Illuminations and Fantasmic! That being said, I prefer Illuminations. The music is fabulous!!! I love listening to the soundtrack! As a matter of fact, I'm having an Illuminations party as the pre-reception at my Disney Wedding. :)

I LOVE Illuminations!! I have the sound track too!
I love to stroll hand in hand with my dh around WS while Illuminations is going on! It is so romantic!

Fantasmic on the other hand..saw it twice, and can wait wuite some time before seeing it a third time!

Cant even compare the 2 though, Fantasmic is ashow that you sit and wait for, and cant move during it,
Illuminations is not something you need to be glued to one spot or ssit and wait for, it is just a awesome experience that I love :) :) :)

princessangel I agree with you 100%. I've only seen Fantasmic once, and have not really seen the need to see it again. I did like it, but having to wait an hour in line just to get seat is not my thing. And it's been out there for a while too!!!

I didn't read all the posts, but Illuminations is one of my very favorite things!! We try to make it the last park thing we do on each trip. My niece and I did it last in 2000 and she said she was glad we had waited (not intentionally!) to see it last. Guess that's why I like to make it one of the last things we do. I also listen to the music in my car often. I have both CD's!
Love it, love it, love it!!

for me and my family. We love watching it and wouldn't miss it .
If we are in WDW, it is definite that we will be watching the fantastic show that never grows old. A vacation wouldn't be complete without seeing Illuminations. WE LOVE IT!!!!! I can't wait till we are there again. :Pinkbounc

We LOVE Illuminations and see it several times on each trip to WDW. I never tire of it. In fact, I'm desperately trying to book an Illuminations Cruise for Thanksgiving week (no luck yet!). Tomorrow's my last chance, but even if we don't get the cruise, you can bet I'll be lining up on the bridge an hour ahead of time to see this. To me, it's one of the best things at WDW. It could stay the same forever and I'd still make a point to see it!

I prefer Illuminations to Fantasmic. I rarely go watch Fantasmic anymore but Illuminations still gives me goose bumps.

Isn't it interesting how everyone has different likes and dislikes?

Susanb, even if you don't get the reservation for the Illuminations cruise today, don't give up. Keep calling even when you are at WDW. Call later in the day. Cancellations are frequent--so keep trying.

This is my DH's favorite. He watches it on his laptop all the time, listens to the soundtrack all day at work, he even has DS2 watching it on the laptop every night before he goes to bed! He went crazy when I told him about this thread. All he kept saying is.."Oh my Gosh..no way..it's the best show ever. Who could possibly be tired of it. I would go to Disney just to watch Illuminations live! Who likes Fantasmic..the Pochantos part is sooo boring! There is no way people don't like Illuminations."

I like Illuminations a lot..Fantasmic is ok and I am glad they are changing FITS! The one at Disenyland is much better! But, you know what I am not found of..Spectro Magic. The concept is cool..no where else is an entire parade done at night..and it was really cool in the 80's and that futureistic theme was out. I was 7 when I first saw it and I loved it. I dunno, I could skip this one..although I won't skip any becuase hey..I am in Disney and I might as well expirience it all!!

We saw it once in Sept 2000 and we never seen it again... We just skip it. Just when the fireworks starts, that's when we starts heading out to catch the bus. Same with MK fireoworks and Spectromagic. We've seen it once and we're ok with it. We prefer to do rides during the parades and we head out during fireworks.

I've seen it 7 or 8 times and I still can't figure out what it's all about.

We saw it once, the first year it started. I was pretty hyped about it after all I had read about the show in DisneyLand. To me it seemed like one long commercial with all the most current products available in the gift shops. Take the kids to Fantasmic and they will bug mom and dad when they get to the stores. The show really turned me off and I have no desire to go back.

We watch Illuminations near Norway everytime we visit WDW. It is great in this area because the kids can play on the wooden ship and we can get deserts in the Norway bakery. I would love to purchase a video of Illuminations, is it sold in stores? Or are all of you watching home movies??

I'm with Mr. Wazowski, I don't care for Illuminations, although DH loves it. I didn't like Fantasmic either.
