Am I crazy or did the 2009 room rates at the resorts go up alot? They seem very pricey. I thought that the mods were about 149 a night? Maybe I am wrong. Thanks for any imput.

It depends on when you are going. I think $149 is during the value season. Some seasons are much more expensive.

Rates do go up every year, and this year the increase seems to be about the same as it usually is, however, in 2009 there will be virtually no reason to pay full price for rooms at WDW. With the economy the way it is, there will be plentiful deals all year long. Price wise, 2009 will be a great year to go to WDW.

Well I think they raise the price as long as people continue to book them. For us I will only stay with discounts....we prefer deluxe resorts but sometimes the prices have my mind blown! Maybe if most of the rooms sit empty the prices will come down

Regular Season for a mod. was $169 last year. I got 40% off which came to $99. Still to much for a moderate. I sat it went up $5.00.

It's to bad, that WDW didn't come out with a marketing ploy, and say how they are going to "lower" prices this year, because of the economy, not raise prices for 2009.

That would make sense, huh?!? However, earth forbid that they go against the grain and get repeat and new happy, RETURNING, customers . Companies see prices of supplies/salaries going up so rather than look at more (customers) for less (money) the just look at more (money) needed and wanted ! Also with gas prices back down (some) those driving trips for long weekends are more doable, but people need places to go !!!

You mean a marketing ploy like booking 4 nights and getting 3 free? Um, that's a pretty good deal in my opinion. Regardless of the economy the price of almost everything will go up because their costs go up as well.

If you figure that I paid $149 a night for 4 nights and got 3 nights free, I really only paid roughly $85 a night for a moderate. That's over a 40% discount. Seems like a pretty good deal to me!! Not to mention the $200 gift card I will be getting!

Ok, I have to ask..where the heck do you like to stay? That sounds like a lot! I know we like to stay in the two bedroom villas at Boardwalk or Beach Club and they don't even cost that much per night.

marketing 101 folks...

I guess we'll see more of these 4/3 deals, instead of free dining. Why? The longer you stay, the more you spend on dining. Drop in a $200 GC as an incentive. You'll spend it on the gift shops and then spend even more.

No deals for us... we are paying $205/night at POFQ, but since we are going during Easter/School vacation week I do not stand a shot of getting any deals. (Not that I haven't tried either)
