Is it just me, or do some of the pictures that get post on DIS drive you nutz?

I don't believe there is wrong or right art and I think photography falls into the art category. Just because I don't like a certain painting, sculpture or photo does not mean that someone else will not like it. And vice versa. All I know is if I didn't ask for criticism or helpful suggestions and your name isn't Ansel Adams then I think you should keep your comments to yourself. ;)

Got Quattro?....I am sure you think your photos are great but what if someone else found them lacking would you want them to broadcast that on the DIS. I think this falls under if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all .

#1, I have thicker skin than that.

#2, My entire point was that some pictures may not be best for being uploaded as "wow, look what I did".

And My entire point is just who are you to say that??? Who ever posted it felt it was a wow, look what I did photo...... so to them it was simply that..

So, again, if you can't say something nice about it, keep your mouth shut, or your fingers off the keyboard as the case may be.

We are not here to judge others, if they ask fine, if not, then keep your thoughts to yourself.

this is a freindly board, and I for one will be pissed as hell if it doesn't remain so because someone decides they are a photo critic and start getting on people.

Is that a simple enough response?

Oops - - my mistake - - I thought it was Groucho with the new puppy - - but it was you Greg - and I did love the photos of him. Lost my wonderful Golden about three weeks ago - so I know how much joy is in your house now!

Again - - how is the puppy and how many shoes has he devoured!!

I am really sorry you lost your golden, they are a part of the family and you greive them as such... :(

My pup is good, she is getting big, and her adult teath are coming in... I think she will be a little happier when that is done. She hasn't chewed up any shoes yet, although she likes to get my crocs out of the closet, leaves the rest alone just gets the crocs. She has however chewed a hole in the bathroom wall, knocked over the christmas tree, and several of my socks have mysterious holes in them... But this too shall pass.

Not bad - - - I like the hole in the bathroom wall - - - sorry about the he/she thing, it drives my husband nuts. I call all dogs "he" and all cats "she". My golden was special as we got her and her brother when they were just eight weeks old - so from puppy to old age a lot of love went around.

All of our other "family" are rescue - when Skilly became ill we got another resuce dog - Jesse - she took Skilly from a sick 12 year old to a let's grab another stick 8 year old - it was grand to see. But now we just have Jesse - we will probably get another rescue dog in the spring - - -

Here are my buddies - when all was well

I am trying to learn lots from this board. I have actually thought about getting "REAL" camera....i want to take some photography classes but nothing around here close offers them..I guess i will be stuck with Photography for Dummies..:lmao:

In the mean time i am about scared to post my beginner photos on here. I would hate to know that someone is saying horrid things about them and wondering why in the HECK :scared1: am i posting them.

don't let one person with a negative attitude scare you from posting, most of us are here for fun and will offer help and encouragement

Hey, I am just creating discussion. You never feal better about your thoughts till you talk about it right.

so you feel better about your thoughts, by talking about them even when knowing it will hurt others...????

And Portraits.

hmmm since you asked for it...something to think about,,,,if you are bothered by people not using the rule of thirds, which has been broken by some of the best,

why not follow the rules of good portraiture, a single person should be a vertical shot..???

I find the attitude of the OP a little hard to accept. Sure, there may be some downright awful pictures posted here. So what? Nobody's forcing anyone to look here, if you see pictures that just don't work for you then move on to the next thing.

I think where I do get frustrated sometimes is when I see a picture that is "almost there". That's when I would try to use my very limited Photoshop skills to suggest to the poster that "this is a really nice picture, and in my opinion could be made even better if you..." That is what I consider to be a positive, helpful thing to do in a friendly community such as this - and I hope that my contributions are interpreted in the manner that I give them.

You aren't "entitled" to anything on the internet. If you think that you are "entitled" to come here to see only nice pictures, you're wrong! I had hoped for some comments when I posted my video montage of Le Puy du Fou (http://www.stagepics.co.uk/temp/pdf3.wmv) but I didn't get any. That's fine; I'm not "entitled" to anything either.

Much better to enjoy the good things than get yourself upset and frustrated over what you see as bad photographs. Surely you must have something more important in life to get upset about :)

Very well said :)

#2, My entire point was that some pictures may not be best for being uploaded as "wow, look what I did".

In the 2 years I've been coming here I have never had nor have I ever thought that someone else had that attitude. People are proud of their pictures for different reasons. Just because they download a picture and post it here doesn't mean they have the "wow, look what I did" attitude.

I completely agree with Master Mason when he says "this is a freindly board, and I for one will be pissed as hell if it doesn't remain so because someone decides they are a photo critic and start getting on people."

Hey guys - this is really simple. Start at the beginning - www.disneyinfo.com - DIS Discussion Forums - Just for Fun - Photography Board -

I think that says it all - "Just for Fun"

The entire photography board has given me more inspiration and information - it is more than "fun" - - - we all share photos - thoughts - praise - and ideas.

Please, no more negative!

Please don't be, please feel free to post away.... If you'll read the comments posted along here, I don't think you have much to worry about.

As for the classes, have you looked at your local JC? Lots of them have them. Also there is the New York Institute of Photography, which is a correspondence course that a few folks on her are participating in, and I have been seriously thinking about it myself.

Get over yourself would you.

???? I see nothing wrong with the picture I am not sure of the context in which it was posted, but there is nothing wrong with the photo whatso ever, it is a vacation snap shot. And something that Brack and his lovely wife can look back on and remember something about their trip.

Get over yourself would you.

Perhaps you would do well to follow your own advice.

DH is thrilled with the purchase of his new camera, and he is very excited to try it out. He might want to post his pics for advice when we get home. If some pompous, inconsiderate, narcissist decides to flame him for his inexperience I will be very, very angry. DH is really energized by photography at this stage of the game and I DO NOT want someone to take the wind out of his sails so that brand new camera gets stuck in the closet with the other gadgets he has lost interest in.

I just went and looked at the context, it is a shot of a video screen on a Disney Cruise boat. It does a perfect job of allowing someone to rembember what that looked like.
