...reserve a Beach Cottage or Grand Villa for a party of only four people?

My wife and I are bringing my MIL & FIL to VB and VWL in a couple of weeks, and we were able to snag a Beach Cottage at Vero for a couple of the days. I don't want to be inconsiderate of the folks who have large families and need the extra space, but I really could not resist the temptation to stay in a BC.

Does anyone else reserve a BC/GV for four people, or is this considered to be bad form?

Thanx for your opinions...

I don't think it's the least bit inconsiderate. If you are willing to use the points, you're entitled to stay there by yourself, as far as I'm concerned.

Enjoy your stay! We (8 of us) stayed in a BC three years ago, and my family still talks about it.

I would think if you have the points, and you want the GV, it should be up to you if you want it. As long as you are not over the occupancy limit. We also plan on doing the same for the Beach Cottages, reserving it for 6-7 people. The view is "worth it"!!!!!!;)

I agree. If you want to reserve a 2BR or Grand Villa just for yourself it's fine with me.

That way, you can sleep in a different bed every night until you either check out or mousekeeping shows up! ;)

Really, they are your points and how you use them is your choice.

Enjoy!

You can bring as few people as you like. However, it might be inconsiderate to do so and not invite me along, since you have the extra room. ;) ;) ;) Hint...hint.

Rich has very often told of his trips with well below the limit in the GV. It's not necessary to fill your house to capacity....you don't need to fill your "home away from home"either.

If you want too use your points I see no problem with it. Actually it will be less wear and tear on it. Like giving it a rest. LOL Have a safe and magical trip.

I think it is extremely inconsiderate of you! (tounge in cheek) However, never fear because I have a solution. My family of 4 would be more then willing to join you. We are very quite. Well, as quite as a 5 and 7 year old can actually be! We promise we won't be a bother. I am only offering this to ease your conscience!! LOL

Okay, since that probably isn't going to happen.......go and have a great time!! We always do a 2 bedroom with just four and we LOVE the extra space. Someday we will do a Grand Villa with just 4 and I can't wait. Have fun!

The offer still stands though............ lol

LOL, Pam & Lisa! C'mon down!

Of course if any DISers will be there at that time, I would enjoy having a visit and meeting some of the people here.

I kind of thought it would be okay to get the BC, and after all...it opened up availability for someone to snag the 2br that I cancelled.

Thanx again!

"Go first class whenever you can afford it."
A smart man said that.
I try to follow his advice, life is short.

Looking forward to stayting in a GV someday.

Personally, I think it's great that you are doing that...

You are helping to balance out those who exceed the occupancy limits on other villas.... ;)

Your points, your choice!!! Go for it!!! We are planning to do the same in August, but there will be ONLY 5 of us!

You can reserve it for just one person and run through it naked for hours, it's your points. LOL.

WAY too much information, Dean!!! ;)

and Disneyaholic...LOL since I appreciate quality sarcasm! :)

If Dean wanted to keep it cool, he would have to run all through the roms for hours to let the automatic sensors know he is there!:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

LOL! How did you know my master plan?! Of course, Pam and Lisa did say they would like to stay with me! :teeth:

If this is inconsiderate, count me in - it's exactly what we're going to try and do next October. I've had it with trying to organize GV's and vacations around the rest of the family, so from here on out, if we want a GV for just the 4 of us (and assuming we have the points), we're going to try to get one.

Besides, you simply cannot beat the view that a Beach Cottage at Vero gives you.....

Enjoy your stay!!!!

I once checked into a one bedroom at OKW and never used it the first night because I was staying at the GF but I did not want to have to wait until 4 PM to get my room at OKW so it went empty the first night. I walked into the one bedroom about 9 in the morning the day after I started to rent it. They are your points if you want to rent a Grand Villa and not have anyone there it is your business and points. Keep in mind that I live in Connectiuct also so if you ever are looking for someone to fill an empty space you rented just let me know. Just kidding. Have fun they are your points

Of course you have an obligation to sacrifice your own preferences and vacation desires for those of other families to whom you have no connection. How can you possibly sleep at night knowing that you are enoying all that space when others whom you will never know have to split up their families because the GV or BC was not available. The rights of those other families is obviously more important than your rights, no matter how much you paid for your points...Actually you must donate your points to some poor nonDVC family to use. All this talk about using the points however you want completely ignores your obligation to sacrifice your own happiness in the service of other families because they are a)larger or b)poorer or c)live farther away or d) don't get to go as often as you or e) any other stupid excuse someone uses when they ask you to be a slave to somebody else's happiness. In other words- recognize everything I have said for the ridiculous liberal nonsense it is...you never had to ask the question here, and please don't question yourself...Enjoy! Guilt free.
