Is it ever ok to swear at a stranger?

I have only once sworn at a stranger. It was a car dealer I told him that I would ring him up and please do not contact me before 4pm as I was night shift. So at 2.45pm he rang me and wanted to chat about cars I told him to go away I was asleap (using the f bom) and put the phone down. Normally I wouldn't do that but I told him I would be asleap I also warned him that I don't take being woken up well either.

these are the kind of people that deserve to be sworn at. if youre being disturbed by some clown or obnoxious fool invading your bubble, of coures give them both barrels. as for swearing at someone when YOU are in the wrong is low-class. definitely

In a word, no. Absolutely not! I'm so glad you hung up on her! There is no way you should have to listen to someone treat you like that, no matter what the circumstances are. She was way out of line.

I have never sworn at anyone in customer service. I have never raised my voice to them, etc. What good is any of that going to do? The customer service person is going to get defensive and rightly so. They will hang up on me if I'm talking to them on the phone. Or they will not be willing to help me if I am yelling/swearing at them in person. I just don't see the point in anyone acting that way with a customer service employee. Or anyone, period. It just shows what kind of person they are. Low class, no self control, idiots. Seriously.

I know that phone call upset you, but try not to dwell on it. She is definitely not worth your time or trouble.

To answer your question - no, it's never OK. I am so sorry this woman dumped on you. I'm sure she has some major issues in her life if she was acting like that to a total stranger.

In your case, no the customer should not have swore at you.

In my father's case - with the credit card lady who kept asking to speak to his dead girlfriend - I totally understand why he said what he said. :(

I don't think just because you work in customer service you get a free pass to be a jerk and get away with it. I know there are some wonderful people out there - we could use one right now.
