Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

:wave2:

Just moving you up off page 3 ... it is getting closer to that ADR date!

Thanx Vicki!

I've been somewhat absent ......my stress level is off the charts. My step-dad's health has been a rollercoaster ride the last month. We thought we almost lost him a couple different times. With still dealing with the loss of my step-mom in Oct, my dad in Jan.....I'm just not ready to go through another.

He seems to be doing a little better after the dual pacemaker was put in place but he still has a lot of fluid build up in his lungs & extremities. The bottom line is he has COPD & congestive heart failure.

I just realized our ADR day is also the day I say goodbye to Derek as we load him on a plane to Florida to start his college program at WDW. Gonna be a long day!!

sending prayers for your stepdad

 Thanx Kelly!!

Well after posting, things took a turn & my step dad ended up in ICU. The cardiologist came in tonight & gave my mom the "talk". They're removing all restrictions on him, will move him out of ICU in the morning & once hospice is set up for him at home, he'll go home to die. They don't figure he has much time. :worried:

Oh Laurie, I am so sorry that you have to go through this again so soon. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

 Thanx Andrea!! Just seems a bit unfair to lose 3, bang bang bang........ I guess I should be thankful I got to have them as long as I did!! Mike lost his dad 12 yrs ago.

Laurie, I am sorry to hear about your step-Dad! So much sadness in such a little time! Hang in there, hon!

So sorry Laurie.

Hope he passes peacefully and am glad it will be at home, not in some sterile hospital

Sorry for you going through this.
Hugs and prayers coming your way.

 Thank you all!! Went and saw him this morning at the hospital and was there when hospice got put in motion. It takes 2-4 hrs to have hospice in place, hospital equipment in the home & a ride arranged to transport him home. Amazing people that do this day in & out. When he gets home, he can do, eat & drink what ever he wants. He's not hungry, but very thirsty.....unfortunately, the liquid is bad for him.....so part of how long he sticks around may be up to him. If he goes home and drinks a beer (which he says he's gonna do), this could be really bad for him......but he's at peace with the cards he's been dealt.

I just want this to be painless and as easy as it can be for him & my mom.

Laurie, I am so sorry. Grateful Hospice is in place now. When my dad went home with hospice, it was the same - he could have anything he wanted, but my mom could not grasp the reality. He had not been sick and within days, at home with hospice. Friends brought him favorite foods from his favorite restaurants...but he ate very little. But he did want beer ....my mother was very hesitant...she gave him just a tiny bit, trying to quench his taste for it. When he passed just a few days later, she told me how sorry she was that she did not let him have the beer...but of course, she did not want to lose him any sooner than necessary.

Please know my heartfelt prayer is with your step-dad, your mom, you and your family. It is hard to let them have the things that are not best...but no matter what...his time is near and most important is to allow him his dignity and to go in peace when he is ready. As much as we want to keep them with us, it is out of our hands.

God blessings and my love, dear Laurie.

 Thanx Christine!! I want him to be happy and enjoy some of the things he's had to give up do to his diabetes. He doesn't have much of an appetite.....but I hope if he wants a piece of chocolate cake, they'll get it for him. It's out of our hands and he deserves some happiness!! Sorry I'm not in the same town with them anymore....makes things a little harder, but I know my younger brother is on top of things and if I need to get up there...he'll be the one to let me know.

Hi Laurie!! Signing on for the PTR...

Looks like we live pretty close to each other!! :goodvibes

Also, our trip dates look like they will over lap, mine are a little up in the air until next month, but the time frame is staying put...

Sorry to hear about the medical issues and loss you have been dealing with, with your family. We have had a bit of that as well. But seemed to go away a few months ago.

Can't wait to hear more...

Welcome!!!! :wave2: What part of Oregon are you in??? How cool you'll be there around the same time!!! I see you have a PTR link, so I'll sub in & read it when I get a chance!!

Thank you, I'm hoping things will calm down for us too......at this point, I think we're just on hold with my step dad.....but hoping my mom sticks around a lot more years!!!! I'm sorry you went through a rough patch too......it's so hard to get hit back to back. Hopefully your year continues to bring nothing but happiness!!

We are in Salem... So really not far at all!

My husband and I do the TR's and PTR's together... And we just finished a recap of one day at DL last year, our family loss is outlined in that. :worried:

We will do a recap of the 2010 trip we took too, since we never finished that TR... We went during Christmas time and my husband is a bit of a photo nut so there will be a lot of pics! :thumbsup2

Very small world!
