Is it bad to say....

Add me to the "go for it!" camp. :goodvibes

Now, personally, I'm not big on attention. We were married in Disney World and CM's kept trying to give us the just married buttons and suggested wearing the bride and groom ears. I finally relented and bought two pins with Micky and Minnie in wedding attire and we wore those and put the "Just Married" buttons on out bags. They're big and awkward in my opinion... BUT, I saw lots of people with pins and I tried to offer well wishes to all of them. I didn't ask what the specifics of the event were, or ask for photo ID to prove something. :confused3 Only someone small would want you to hide your happiness.

Of course, I did see a few over the top examples, too... There was a couple at our hotel and we saw had matching t-shirts EVERY DAY announcing they were just married, on their honeymoon, etc. Plus they wore the buttons, plus the bride and groom ears. I will admit, I rolled my eyes a little. DH would nudge me and say he was thankful that I didn't make him do that!

Its couples like this that give the anniversary pins (birthday pins ect.) a bad name. Every time I come across a thread on this topic the conversation is usually the same. There are some people out there that HATE the pins. I for one love to celebrate. And no I'm not looking for the "freebies". DH and I wore matching shirts on our anniversary day, and we wore the anniversary pins for the entire trip. The trip was our gift to eachother. It was nice to hear CM's say congrats to us but we didn't expect it.

As for celebrating when its not the actual day of the event....I also say go for it. When you plan a birthday party is always on the exact day? Probably not.

Um, I'm confused on the people who don't want this couple to "announce" something. There is one very special occasion that my husband and I celebrate every year. And that is the date we met our ready made granddaughter. Please don't tell me I can't take her to Disney World to celebrate that!

This is one issue that is 100% opinion. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers. People who ask, "Am I allowed to celebrate by wearing an XXX button?" are asking a loaded question.

Me ... personally ... I think celebrating the one-year anniversary of dating sounds kind of like you're really stretching for something to celebrate. But that's ME -- my opinion, nothing more -- and really has no bearing on how anyone else celebrates. But you asked, so I answered.

I also ... personally ... think that if you're at WDW on a "birthday trip" (someone got you a trip for your birthday or you're going to celebrate your birthday or whatever), that you should wear a birthday button from the moment you arrive until the moment that you leave, regardless of when your birthday is or was. But wear it because it makes you happy, not because you're expecting a bunch of free stuff or attention.

And to the PP ... no one is telling you that you can't celebrate the meeting of your ready-made granddaughter. That is entirely up to you. (And one would hope you celebrate that every year regardless of whether you're at WDW or not.)

The bottom line is that you should celebrate whatever you want to celebrate at WDW. Wear a t-shirt that says "1st Anniversary of the Day I Found Out I was Pregnant". Wear a birthday button to celebrate your dog's birthday. Send yourself a cake to celebrate the first time you ever properly pronounced the word "assuage." Celebrate however and whatever YOU want, without anyone else telling you what is "proper" and what is "improper." Just know that there aren't any guarantees of attention, gifts, or notoriety because you're wearing a special button or a bride & groom hat. And then go have fun.

:earsboy:

My 3 year old has the cutest little 'celebration' shirt, and we plan on wearing it on him this trip......it says "I'm only 2 years old, so stop asking".

It looks so cute on him.

No it's not, but I don't hold a party six months after, usually the weekend before or after lol;) I've heard of people who celebrate their birthdays with a gap as big as this. If it is your birthday within a couple of weeks either way then fine. We always visit WDW in Sept. and my DS birthday is in October. I don't feel that that it would be appropriate to celebrate in WDW.

I think celebrating your anniversaryof meeting/first date is great and my husband and I celebrate our every year, never at wdw though, we usually go out for a meal or something, although maybe I could persuade him for next year:)
