Weighing 208 pounds and having approximately a month until back to school shopping, to lose two pant sizes? I'm an 18 right now and the largest size AE carries in store is a 14, I would love to be able to go to the outlit. Anyone lost in this short of a time? How did you do it?

Trying to lose that much weight in a month is VERY dangerous :sad2: and more likely than not, won't stay off. Maybe if you re-prioritize why you are losing weight, ie. because you want to be healthy, as opposed to getting an outfit, would be a much better goal. Initially, as I'm not sure how much weight you want to lose, cutting back on processed foods and drinks except for water and a glass or two of skim milk will probably show pretty quick results. Your body tends to lose what people call "water weight" once you decrease the amount of processed foods (fast food of any kind, chips, nachos, pizza, white bread, pasta, soda) because these types of foods tend to keep the "water on" as they are high in sodium and other various chemicals. Eating fresh veggies, salad, chicken, turkey, fish, almonds, whole wheat breads, fruits and low fat/cal dairy products ::yes:: will more likely make you feel better and look better too.

Incorporating exercise :bounce: into your daily routing would also help, although you may want to get a physical first before starting any type of exercise routine. If you are mostly sedentary, a good 20 to 30 minute walk every day will help to boost your burning of calories. Joining a YMCA and getting a trainer to help you with a lifting routine would build muscle mass and increase your matabolism.

On a final note: I was a very heavy child and teenager. Around the age of 15 I began playing sports, and was VERY sore for a good month, as I was easily 30 pounds overweight. I slowly changed my eating habits, and now, over 15 years later, am still tweaking what I eat and how I exercise...but I never, ever have "dieted"...I eat very healthy and exercise often. On the other hand, a friend of mine in her late forties was also a heavy child and teenager, but took to the "diet of the month" way to lose weight..aka. yo yo dieting. She tried everything and went up and down for years...needless to say, 3 years ago she had to have her gall bladder removed  due to gallstones which her doctor told her comes from, among other things, yo yo dieting. I hope that you consider the "safe way" over the "quick way" to a healthy body. Good luck!

I know, I want to be healthy and be able to keep up with everyone, but it's so hard sometimes because as well as keeping up with everyone in sports and such, I want to keep up with them fashion wise. I hate going to the mall with my friends. It makes me feel terrible that I can't try on all the cute outfits at AE and I have to buy them online. Sigh, I guess I'm just going to have to wait. :sad1:

Hey Megan! :wave2:

Don't push it. You have done great to lose what you have so far and if you want it bad enough, you will continue losing. I agree, losing that much so fast isn't healthy AND you probably would start gaining it back before Christmas, so the AE clothes still wouldn't fit.

What you can do is concentrate your efforts a little more and you just might be able to see a size 16 about the time school starts, or just after. There are some really cute clothes in that size. Then from there, keep working to get to a size 14 by Thanksgiving or Christmas. What a great shopping spree you could have at Christmas then!

Keep up the good work, you will get there. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I don't know what plan you are on if any but the only think I could recommend that might do something is either Atkins induction or SBD Phase 1. Even at that, I would only do it for 3 weeks at most before moving on to the next stage. Also, only do it if you are committed to a reduced carb lifestyle long term be it SBD, Atkins, WW Core, Etc. Will you get to a size 14 in a month? I don't know. Everybody loses weight and size differently. Good luck on whatever you do. Short terms goals are great if they are reasonable just remember we are in this for the long haul.

I agree with Johde, also if you begin working out, not just cardio but weight training you will change the shape of your body.

You may not lose two sizes but you will look better and feel better.
