to send a valentine to girls in his class that have a picture of a monkey and it says "I want to be your spunky monkey." ? :lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl: Monkeys are popular with the 4th grade kids today it seems. My dd loves monkeys and would probably get a kick out of it! Thanks for the laugh! :rotfl2:

As the mother of a fourth grade boy, I dread Valentine's Day for fear of something like that. I don't want to offend anyone so I'll be censoring the valentine's day cards my DS picks.

I'd have to say :sad2: :sad2: no.

ha ha......LOL!

I don't know but that's really funny.

I bought DS Snoopy Valentine's for this year and I doubt they say that!

LOL...I think its funny..I would not be offended in the least if my daughter got a card that said that!

MY DD 9 would love to get a card like that. I would also laugh.

Oh. Well. I don't even know if I can explain this on the Dis, but there are two euphemisms, associated with "monkey" and "spunk" that would make me raise an eyebrow at a Valentine with that sentiment.

Hopefully, the children involved wouldn't recognize those euphemisms...

I admit I'd find it rather weird, but it is funny! I don't think kids would get it as much as adults would.

I know what you're talking about, but I wouldn't associate that on a kids valentine. But, I'm sure there are some uptight parents who wouldn't like it. Although, in fairness, the uptight parents probably wouldn't know what it means. :rotfl:

I think it's cute and funny but I still wouldn't let my son hand them out. Unfortunately, there are just too many uptight people in the world.

Monkeys must be big this year for kids that age. My cousin's son is in the 5th grade and his "girlfriend" demanded that he buy her a stuffed monkey with big eyes and a card for Valentine's Day. He was out looking and they found a monkey with big eyes and he looked horrified so we told him we would just do a drive by on her house and throw the monkey out the window while speeding by so he didn't have to be seen in public giving it to her. LOL

I think I just found a new nickname for DH!! I wouldn't be offended by it, but I agree there might be some parents that would find it offensive.

If I felt the boy bought it because he liked monkeys and/or thought it was funny it wouldn't bother me. However, yesterday as I was picking DD up from aftercare I heard 1 3rd grade boy ask a classmate if he's ever been to the Playboy Mansion? :confused3 So, I'm not so sure a 4th grader would be giving this in complete innocence.

I would think it is funny and cute. :teeth:

I must say that I now have "Brass Monkey" going through my head now. Brass Monkey, that funky monkey...

Wouldn't bother me, but I know a few parents that would be up in arms about it .

Wouldn't bother me but maybe that is because I have no idea what other meaning those 2 words might have?
