Is Inauguration Day (Jan 20, 2017) a holiday for your school district?

I am looking at the calendar for next year trying to figure out if I can plan a trip when the kids have a few days off that don't coincide with other school district holidays and high crowd weeks. (I am looking at the Undercover Tourist calendar as Easy is not updated for 2017.)

Jan 15 - Jan 22 looks interesting. There will be a lot of people off for MLK day but we could travel on Sunday and right now Monday doesn't look too bad as far as crowds (at least on UT). The kids have Friday the 20th off for inauguration day so we could do a week at Disney and only take them out of school for 3 days. I am wondering if UT is underestimating the crowds for that week. Fairfax County (next to Wash DC) has always had Inauguration Day off but I am wondering about other school districts. Thoughts?

Fairfax County (next to Wash DC) has always had Inauguration Day off but I am wondering about other school districts.

I would suspect that only schools in the immediate area will close for the day.

St. Mary's County (Southern MD) Public Schools are currently scheduled to be open.

Nope, not a public school holiday for Hawaii. We do have MLK day off, though.

Not for me in a large suburb of Charlotte. However, in the past we always had M-W off that week (changing for next year), so I went on a cruise this past January. Half of NC seemed to be on the cruise, and I learned the eastern part of NC seems to have Th and F off that week normally. So you could be sharing the park with a lot of people from eastern NC.

Interesting, I totally forgot about inauguration day! DH and I work for the Federal govt in DC and we will have that off, my daughter won't though, schools open here.

We only had it off in 2008 because of the historic importance of President Obama's inauguration. In 2012 and pre-2008 it was a regular day of school.

Fort Bragg, NC students have school on Friday the 20th. We do have off the following Monday, but it's for teacher work day so they can prepare report cards that go home the following week.

Not Inauguration Day in suburbs outside of Chicago but they do have Election Day off in Nov so people might want to watch out for that. They don't want the kids in the building with the general public having access.

Some private schools in my area (NY/NJ metro) have off the last week of January for winter vacation. But I don't think it's enough to impact crowds in the park.

We actually have off of school that day!
They are calling it a mid-winter break.
