Is Hollywood & Vine still a miss?

I'm fine tuning our ADRs and I'm realizing that I have a hole in our Hollywood Studios day. Due to the lack of attactions and our lack of interest of Star Tours, we will only spend half a day there and then we have a 6:00 dinner ADR at Disney Springs. I was debating on booking a late breakfast ADR at Hollywood & Vine. I do have a 6yo that would probably get a kick out of the Disney Jr. characters. Which characters are currently there and how is the food?

If I don't book an ADR we'll probably just have an early lunch at Rizzos since pizza.

I think we'll skip it because we're already doing CRT for lunch and Tusker House for breakfast, and we're not even big Character Dining people. Three seems like overkill!

Any recs for a quick late breakfast or early lunch at Hollywood Studios?

Just to point out, counter service at HS is likely to be CROWDED after Toy Story Land opens. We love Hollywood and Vine and it is must-do for us every trip, though we prefer the lunch and dinner foods and characters to the breakfast. For the breakfast, we had Sophia, Doc McStuffins, Jack from the Neverland Pirates, and Handy Manny (though I have seen on some websites that Goofy appears there now in place of Handy Manny). If you go late enough that they change over the characters for lunch, it will be Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Mickey and Goofy.

I have no idea what to expect from our HS day. If we get there early enough we might even be back to WL for lunch. Of course this all depends on what our FP times are.

Breakfast is actually the only meal we'll eat at H&V. As for breakfast, if you want something outside of the park, BW Bakery is a nice option.

Really its up to you. I won't eat there ever again but several people on this board whose opinion I do respect have said it OK to good. If you go I would recommend breakfast. Breakfast is usually the hardest meal to mess up and remember this while I dislike the food the character interaction at this restaurant has always been superb.

You could try shooting for an early lunch ADR at Sci Fi Dine-In theater. They have some pretty cheap TS entrees, and the more expensive ones (like the pasta) are easily shareable. And the theme will probably be a hit for a 6 year old -- dining in cars, under the starry sky, B-reel movie trailers. I love Sci Fi.

For lunch we often eat right at opening, 11 am, and it's always been a great early lunch/brunch deal for us.

We are two adults who are not into characters, but we enjoyed breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. We thought the food was good, fresh, and there was a surprising amount of options. If you're not there for the characters, it's very easy and relatively quick to just eat off the buffet, get your check, and head out. No harm in missing characters if you're not into it.

But, if you can still find availability, Sci Fi Dine In or 50s Prime Time are usually our go-to lunch TS restaurants at DHS. Mama Melrose is another good option for you, since you mention pizza. I will caution though to do an early lunch and keep it light, otherwise you may not find yourself all that hungry for a 6pm dinner ADR.

The food at H&V is perfectly fine IMO. It's not 5 star dining by any stretch, but perfectly edible and the characters are fun.

We've enjoyed all of our meals at H&V. Sci-Fi is our favorite at DHS.
