Is Hollywood and Vine really THAT bad?

It's not THAT bad-- it's just very mediocre. Outside of WDW, this would be one of those chain budget buffets where you can get a very standard selection of food for like $15 or something. Except because it's inside WDW, the price goes up by 3-4x, which is why I think most people don't find it to be a worthwhile selection.

We usually have Breakfast or Dinner.
Always enjoy the food and my Husband really likes the carving station.
It's buffet food and typical of all Disney buffets. I see it no different than any other Disney Character Buffet.
We go every trip.

Have it booked for 8AM on our SWGE day, yes Aug 29th and was hoping breakfast is just that, simple stuff.....any recent experances on the breakfast?
We were here in June for both breakfast and lunch with a 2yo and a 4yo. We did several character meals and I would say the interaction time here was the best. It was emptier than others and the characters visited several times and really spent time with the kids.

As far as the food, it was a buffet... it is certainly better fare than the buffets I go to for my kids' sake and everyone, including my mom had a decent meal. I wanted to do it for the characters despite reviews I had read. Honestly, I was confused as to why this place has such a bad reputation. I would just go in to it with your expectations set to fine and not great food.

it really is as bad as everyone says. We went there in December for dinner. It is the only place out of maybe 25 we have eaten at that my husband refuses to go back to. I will say the characters and their costumes were fantastic. it was also the only place our reservation ran behind, by like 30 minutes.

As much as I want to go back for the seasonal characters... we will not be returning ( at least this trip), We were there for dinner approximately 3 years ago and enjoyed it.... went back for Christmas time characters ( 1 1/2 years ago) and was extremely disappointed in the food and really decided that we would not be returning. We are not foodies and pretty plain eaters but, still we not at all close to pleased with our last experience there. We have only done the dinner time meals and I was hoping that the rumor that it was improving was true.....

I've only eaten there once - as an invited guest, I might add - and thankfully I was because although the food wasn't terrible, it was definitely not worth what they ask for... I guess my standards were a bit higher than they should have been. Just would rather spend that money on another one of the restaurants, myself.

I’ve been a few times. Probably my least favourite for food but as long as my kids like characters I’ll still choose it for the location, characters and awesome seat for Fantasmic.

We were thinking about doing Minnie’s Seasonal Dine (for dinner) during Halloween season. We will be here for a short-ish trip and it would be great to knock out the fab 4 during a meal, and based on our schedule this may be the only option. We will be celebrating my son’s 3rd birthday while there and part of the excitement for him is MNSSHP and I think it would be fun to add some more Halloween-ish fun to the trip (especially since I don’t think we’ll have time to meet Mickey during our MNSSHP). But - I’ve heard terrible things about this restaurant. What are your thoughts about the quality of food here for the seasonal dine dinners?
We had breakfast there once and it was fine. Nothing special, nothing bad. If it appeals to you, go.

If you’re on the dining plan, I wouldn’t hesitate to go.

The food was not bad, but we’re choosing to do Tusker House instead. It has better food in our opinion, just no Minnie Mouse.

We’ve gone twice - once for breakfast (5 years ago), amd the meal was delicious! One of our favourite of the trip actually. It was clean, and fairly empty, with tons of selection on the buffet.

A year and a half ago, we were there in December, and tried out the holiday dine (mostly to see the characters in ther Christmas outfits). My kids liked the characters, but it was sooooo crowded at supper. Super noisy and cramped. Our server only was able to come by once, amd we pretty much ate fast and left as soon as the characters came by (actually, we were waiting for some, so we could leave). We did like getting a Christmas photo with Goofy 😋
The food wasn’t terrible, and there was lots of selection....it was just “meh”.

If you’re on the dining plan, and with a three year old, I would do it. But it would be a pretty expensive meal OOP, and I know I’d have been disappointed.

It's a good use of a credit if you're on the Dining Plan, and more so if you want the Fantasmic package. We've done the seasonal dine twice, at Halloween and Christmas and I would go again. Fab four in fun costumes, and Santa Goofy or Halloween Minnie for a special photo op depending on when you go. The food was superior to other buffets including Chef Mickeys, Tusker House (which I loved first visit but has gone downhill IMHO), and Crystal Palace. Good carving station, interesting salads, one of the better butternut squash soups I had on property. Cheaper than the dessert parties and includes a full dessert buffet. And, it doesn't take too much park time for a character meal. We had all the characters come by twice. I've done the Brown Derby (great food but took 2 hours) and I'm not interested in any of the other TS offerings at Hollywood Studios so I will always book H&V if we are going to be there for dinner, at least while my kids are small.

My four year and I really enjoyed our lunch there last month. They had an excellent lamb stew and the fried shrimp were delicious. The characters were also very nice and took their time.

We did the Minnie's Holiday Dine the first year they offered it. We thought the buffet was very good and we really liked seeing the characters in outfits that you couldn't see them in at other locations.

Even Disney can't screw up breakfast
I dunno, I'd rather pay less off property and get real eggs and bacon. I don't know what that "bacon" is that they serve with those powdered eggs but it's see through thin and not good. You would think for the price they charge they would get out of the "feed the masses" mindset and get real food in these places instead of rations from WWII lol.

We went last night. The food was good. The characters were cute. The desserts were lame but they had soft serve ice cream which my kids love. Our server was nice and keot our drinks full. It is way overpriced of course but what isnt st wdw? We were on the dining plan so cost isnt so painful.

The made-to-order eggs at the omelet station are at least a little better.

We ate there last week and thought the food was good. We were on the dining plan and did the F! package and thought it was a good use of a dining credit.

We've done the Fantasmic! dining package at H&V twice and thought it was a good use of a dining credit at a convenient location. Our first visit was the Disney Junior lunch in 2016 and last year we did Minnie's Seasonal Dinner. Both times we thought the food was okay and on par with Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Faire but not as good as Tusker House. I think servers and character interaction can vary on any given day. Our first visit we were impressed with the service and character interaction at Chef Mickey's and thought H&V was just okay. Our second visit that completely flipped and we had one of our best servers of the trip and great character interaction at H&V and thought Chef Mickey's was horrible and our server was the worst we'd ever had at Disney.
