Is Hollow Dole Whip Normal?

We bought two dole whips from Sunshine Tree Terrace. I got half way through mine when I found it to be hollow in the middle. I was going to ask the Cast Member for a replacement/refill but then my girlfriend’s turned out to be hollow too.

It is disappointing to get half the dole whip you expect on a hot day.

I am new to the dole whip game. Is this normal or did we just get bad luck?

My guess is that the CM that did your Dole Whip needs some Dairy Queen remedial soft-serve dispensing training. So no, I don't usually have that problem. That's a shame.

I've had that a few times with soft ice cream at disney. Maybe we need a hollow ice cream thread.

I'll be sure to eat lots of ice cream next trip to fully investigate this issue.

I’m surprised to see several say that’s not normal. I’m pretty sure every one I’ve ever had has been like that…but I always get a float. IDK if that matters. Anyway, hope you enjoyed them! Highly recommend the float next time, if you like pineapple juice.

Sure, they would do that for a float, to leave room for the juice.

Maybe whoever made these is trained on floats only?? But usually the juice isn’t in the hole until I start poking my straw through it. I wonder if some people just use different techniques?

I love the float. Such a different flavor. It is exceptional IMHO with the Twist (1/2 ice cream 1/2 DW) flavor.

I think every one I've bought for decades on either coast has had a hollow center, but not that hollow.
