Is HOJO's really the fav off site hotel?

What's that Super8 like? We had an AWFUL Super8 experience last year in Oregon and even though I used to like the brand I'm just scared of it now (interestingly they are all part of the same hotel rewards program, the rewards program that got me my free Amtrak Surfliner trip from San Diego!).

We have a one-night stay where, so far, HoJo is still at 140+ even with the AP discount, so right now we have Motel6 reserved, but we have an early morning walk (no cab b/c no carseat on this trip!) over to PPH to pre-check-in before MM, so being just a little bit closer to PPH would be good!

I second a bad experience with Super 8... this was my first and hopefully ONLY bad hotel experience. It was a CA Super 8, although not in Anaheim. It has forever ruined my opinion of Super 8 hotels.
I know they are all owned by different folks and therefore, all different. However, I will NEVER book with Super 8 again, unless it is the Super 8 in Roseburg OR... that hotel is great:)

After all the wonderful things I have read about HOJO's I really want to stay here. Its a bit more than Stovalls and no breakfast but now I want to see it for myself. I jut have to convince DH that we should do it too. He is thinking why spend more, were not going to be at the room much anyhow. He does have a point. I then showed my 11DD the pool :rotfl: and now she really wants to check out the castaway cove. We leave friday and it should be in the low to mid 70's. I woudnt get near the water but I dont think she will care :yay:

We just got back on Thursday from staying at the HOJO for 9 nights. We will stay there again if we ever go back. It was great! The walk was awesome. We took our stroller and had no problems. DD did the walk in the morning, but by night she was exhausted and would ride. My parents who are seniors had no problem with the walk either.
We also would cut through the parking lot at night to get to our building so it felt even quicker than if we had used the walkways. And there was always loads of parking. It also felt safe to walk through at night by yourself. The only thing that I say to watch out for are the snails. They make an awfully loud noise (crunch) when you accidentally step on them.

For us, the hotel lived up to its reputation! I go HOJO!

ok...so quick question...we stayed at the Camelot Inn last year {directly across from the pool:thumbsup2 }...but next year we will be going either rmid-July or mid-Aug {unsure exactly when} and there will be 6 of us....can we get 1 room at the HOJO with 6 people? kids ages are 16, 8, 3 & 2....I really would like to stay at the DLH but don't think it's in the budget...

Welcome back, DavidsPrincess! :) ERR, Welcome back to Canada! :)

I hope that you had an awesome time! Did you remember to mail me a chocolate caramel apple? If not, don't worry, there is always next time. :)

We're just ending a six day stay at HoJo. It is a great place to stay.

HoJo's is an excellent value. The room was clean, everything worked, and the beds were comfortable. Free parking adds to the value, as does the small store in the lobby (they literally have one of everything).

The walk to Disneyland takes 12 minutes - room to front gate (That's our average time for 14 trips to and from the park). 5 minutes of that walk is from the gate to the east side of Harbor, so HoJo is not much farther away then any of the "closer" off site hotels. The walk was regrettable only one evening (we stayed very late and we were all a little grumpy that night). Every other time, the walk provide a pleasant transition and some good conversation time.

Our DD and DS (4 and 6) LOVED the pirates cove water play area. DH loved that he could relax in the hot tub and watch the kids play. We used the water play area every afternoon. It pushes the value of HoJo over the top.

Someday, we'll stay at the Grand California to have the complete Disney experience. Until then, we'll save $$$$$$$$$ and have a great stay at HoJo's.

Talie, your walk took 12 min?? It never takes us longer than 10 and that's after midnight when we've been in the parks all day.....It usually takes us about 7 min. to get to the security tables.

As for parking, the HoJo lot is HUGE!!!!! They don't charge and you can leave your car in the lot on your checkout day. We can get pretty close to our building generally but not right outside. Of course when we stayed at the Trop (3 or 4 time before we discovered HoJo) we didn't get parking directly in front of our room either so that doesn't matter to us at all. :) Parking at the HoJo is plentiful so you won't have an issue there. :)
