Is Harry Potter still crowded with long lines?

We leave for WDW on Friday of this week. We would like to plan a day trip over to Universal. Three years ago we went to both parks in Jan. same time frame and it was DEAD. We bought a two day ticket and could have done everything in 1 day. Now of course the new Harry Potter stuff is there and I expect that won't be the case even in mid to late Jan. We are planning on going on either Tuesday or Thursday of next week. I was planning on getting a 1 day 2 park ticket but maybe we won't have enough time to do that now? Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

It should be slow if you go on Tuesday or Thursday. The end of January is not usually a busy time. The only part of the park that would be really bust is the wwohp. If you go from 9-12 and then from 4-park close to the wwohp then you should be fine on crowds. You could probrably do both parks in one day but you would have to pick out the rides that you want to go on as you would not have enough time to do all of the rides from both parks

t-w-th are good days for less crowds.
be at the park before opening.
give yourself time to park the car in the garage, that is if you are driving.

if it is light from the early entry hotel guests at potter, you could be let in 10-15 minutes prior.

just buy the one day, one park ticket.
you can upgrade it to a 1 day hopper if you find you have completed everything at IOA.
go to guest services to upgrade WHILE you are still in the park.

you pay the difference of the tickets.
