Is grilling currently allowed at DVC resorts that have gas grills?

I understand there is currently a burn ban in Orange County and no open fires are allowed, including fires at Fort Wilderness and the charcoal grills at DVC resorts. Technically the Orange County burn ban does not prohibit use of gas grills, but I was wondering if DVC members were being allowed to grill now at the Polynesian? (I know the VGF resort has gas grills, too). We are hoping to grill at the Poly on our next trip.

I would suggest that you contact Member Services and try to get something confirmed in writing.

You are right that gas grills are not covered by the ban. However recent reports indicate that Disney has suspended its nightly campfires at the resorts, most (if not all) of which are using gas fire pits now. And guests have been told by resort staff that the gas BBQ grills are not to be used. The gas grill restriction could be policy...or it could just be misunderstanding on the part of the Cast Members.

At AKL Kidani last week, there was a notice in the room that there would be no grilling allowed due to the drought. Last week was pretty wet, but the drought has been around a long time.
I strongly suspect that all resorts are impacted the same way.

As I read the ban gas grills would be allowed but apparently Disney has decided to enforce it more consistently since some locations still have charcoal. A reasonable choice IMO. But the ban might be lifted given the rain we've had the last week or so.

Seminole County (just north of Orange County) lifted their burn ban this morning. It's possible that Orange & Osceola Counties may do the same soon.
