Is George Bush the worst president of the last 50 years?

Is George Bush the worst president of the last 50 years?

  • Easily the worst

  • Worst? How about the best president of all time.

  • Sure, Bush is horrible. But Kerry would easily eclipse Bush's sorry ineptitude.

  • Why don't you take this to the debate board where it belongs.

Most of the Presidents have been politicians who bend and twist whichever way the political wind blows - like John Kerry. Bush, on the other hand, makes the tough decisions as best he can and stands his ground. His refusal to dance the usual political dance is often misinterpreted by his enemies, who call it "arrogance". The rest of us just call it "backbone". ;)

You don't think GWB is dancin' with the men that brung him?
I think he's the best dancer by far, raised the most money,
appointed a VP based on one of his biggest campaign donaters,
started a war because his father was threatened and he WAS the president, allowed his VP's company to profit from the war
he started, is great friends with the Saudi rep to the US and
OPEC to the point where THAT man(" Prince Bandar Bush")
has offered to dump 2,000,000 barrels of oil daily into the world
economy to help get George Bush elected-in spite of what OPEC
wants. Bandar has said that's what he doing btw. We never investigated Saudi Arabia or invaded them and at least a dozen
of the terrorists that used airplanes to attack us on our soil were
Saudi nationals. There are people who would say GWB is not
smart enough to play the political game. I say he's JUST smart
enough and one of the best players in world history. This, however, is not a giant game of RISK so I'm worried about the
fallout from this presidency big time.

Absolutely! Perhaps if Clinton had had "backbone" and gone after Bin Laden after the first attack on the World Trade Towers, we woud be in a MUCH different position today!

Okay I like this game.

Clinton, Reagan, Johnson, Nixon, Bush 41, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Carter, Ford, Bush 43

Proves what a strange bird I am. Eisenhower got a bad rap from me because he never made an impression on me as a president (mainly because I wasn't around and not much happened in the 1950's to make the presidential politics interesting enough for me to look at it. People with strong convictions got extra credits so even though I didn't like Reagan and never voted for him I give him a lot of credit for moving forward with an actual agenda of his own. Johnson & Nixon also had strong convictions with strong minuses but got extra credit for knowing when to fold 'em. I think Kennedy was overrated and Johnson moved civil rights forward a lot faster than JFK would have if he hadn't been assasinated. Ford could have been a good president if he hadn't had deal with the fallout from Nixon. And I think Carter was hamstrung in the same way. Bush 41 was a sellout...he was the republican I would have voted for in 1980 but picked up on Reagan's economic policies in 1988.

Bush 43 is a puppet.

I think it's a tie between Bush 1 and Bush 2. The sad thing is I actually voted for "W".

Oh, dear dear, it's the "we're fighting for oil and revenge" argument again. Not a scrap of proof for any of it, of course, and yet some do believe it, contrary to common sense. Tell me, if we truly wished to invade a country for its oil, doesn't it make more sense for us to invade, say, Mexico? It's right next door, there are no terrorists there, the Mexican people would probably welcome us there with open arms (otherwise why are so many of them always trying to sneak over here?) and Mexico has tons of oil. Why would be go halfway across the world into the roiling snakepit of Islamic extremism when such a juicy plum resides on our doorstep? Think, man! I enjoy fantasy as much as you do, but some of the fairy tales you apparently believe are dangerous. :earseek:

I vote middle of the road...good in some areas, bad in others...but better than Kerry.

Spoken like someone with a heart of a DBer. :p

This is just too tempting and too hard to resist. PLEASE! Re-open the debate board so we can adequately respond!

Pres Carter is easily the worst Pres. in the last 50 yrs!!!!
He brought us the term "stagflation" for double digit inflation and unemployment rates and had our military so gutted that they crashed in the desert without getting anywhere near there target. WHen you add all this to his gutting of the cia he is easily the worst Pres. in the past 50 yrs and none of his hammer banging pr campaign will undo the damage he did to this country.
But at least it had a upside-Pres. Ronald Reagan!!!!

I believe you are correct.

Really belongs on the no longer open debate board, which is what I voted. Since it's here I wanted to add my 2 cents. (usually when I post my thoughts it kills a thread, so this might be a good thing). Anyway, don't you think that regardless of what our personal feelings are towards the man, we should stand behind him as a country? Really, DH doesn't much care for his boss. They are a team, but DH is second in command. Now DH will come home and tell me about what a baby his boss is, or this and that. However, when he goes to work, those people there believe that DH believe the boss is the greatest. Why? Well, respect for his position, for one. And, another is that if he starts badmouthing his boss in front of the employees it only makes the think badly of him. Soon, others are saying bad things about him. Regardless of what DH thinks, in front of those employees he stands behind the boss. Don't you think we should do the same for the president? He might not be the best president we've ever had (not saying he is or not). But, he's in a position that none of us are in. It's very easy to sling the mud, isn't it????

I won't let you kill the thread!;)

It's possible to respect our leaders, without agreeing with them all of the time, or following them blindly! After all thats what our country is all about, isn't it? If we had a dictator as a leader then we wouldn't be allowed to be critical of our government. Isn't it wonderful to live in a democracy?:sunny:

It was really hard for me not to put Carter last. Thinking about it, I'm not actually what he really did.. Bungled the hostage crisis. Became best friends with Arafat. Couldn't get the economy under control. Hmmm...maybe I should move him to the end.

I wonder if those that rank him high are confusing his post-Presidency activities with is inactivity as President?

I voted for gore not for bush.... but being the vet that I am I will back up our leaders and our troops.... I may not like their actions but I back them up!
