Is George Bush the worst president of the last 50 years?

Is George Bush the worst president of the last 50 years?

  • Easily the worst

  • Worst? How about the best president of all time.

  • Sure, Bush is horrible. But Kerry would easily eclipse Bush's sorry ineptitude.

  • Why don't you take this to the debate board where it belongs.

Results are only viewable after voting.
From best to worse:

Reagan, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Bush 43, Bush 41, Ford, Carter, Clinton, Nixon, Johnson

I like that idea... I think I'll have a crack at it myself.

Clinton, Carter, Kennedy, Bush 41, Eisenhower, Ford, Johnson, Reagan, Nixon, Bush 43

Reagan, then Reagan again, Eisenhower, Johnson, Kennedy, Bush 41, Clinton, Nixon, Ford, Carter.

Bush 43 not yet eligible for judging as he's not finished his term. If it were over today, he would be between Johnson and Kennedy.

How can you vote Johnson over Kennedy? Kennedy cut taxes, started the moon programs, and was fairly strong on national defense. Johnson expanded social programs and made an absolute mess in Vietnam.

That is such an interesting list ! Now I know why you were always so interesting to debate !

It ws a close vote. Kennedy lost votes in my poll for Bay of Pigs and getting into Vietnam "officially". Johnson, while he screwed up Vietnam, won points for Civil rights. The domestic issues Johnson addressed (right or wrong) carried more weight.

I find it interesting that the second-place answer insinuates that people around here would prefer to not see topics like this...

I wonder if they're the same people that were dancing on the debate board's grave.

Correction, Bush 43 would be between his Kennedy and Bush 41. Wins points for GWOT, loses points for double-crossing his base on domestic issues.

See, I give him plus points for Vietnam. I still think it was the right thing to do, and just horribly executed by Johnson.
Johnson, while he screwed up Vietnam, won points for Civil rights.
Guess I better do a google search on that. I'm a little fuzzy on how much Johnson pushed for Civil Rights, and how much just happened.

Carter a close second
Hey now, you're talking like a Republican or something.;)

I think it's a close tie between Bush and Bush as to who would be worst on my list.

Hey, gotta play by the rules. Whoever was on duty gets the credit. :smooth:

You might be swaying me on Kennedy. You're right, it was the right thing to do. Okay... new list

Reagan, Reagan (yes can't vote for him enough!), Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Bush 41, Clinton, Nixon, Ford, Carter.

Very close between Eisenhower and Kennedy. I gotta admint, if a Kennedy type were running today, I'd be hard pressed not to vote for him.

I should probably move Clinton ahead of Carter. Even though Carter was the more honest man, Clinton was much more effective, and did some things right - like agreeing to Nafta, welfare reform, and the capital gains tax cut.

Of all the times you have ever surprised me, that one shocked the most.

As much as I didn't care for the man's morals, he was a unparalled politician, (probably one of the all time best) and, in all honestly, a fairly effective President.

I agree with KaterKat, you need another option. However, since there isn't a more reasonable choice, I opted for 'best president ever' because I don't think it would be hard to do a better job than Kerry would - heck, even Nader would be superior. Ah yes, the smilies at the end of a "speech" to "set things right" as per Dis history:

:teeth: :hyper: ::yes:: :wave: :wave2: :rolleyes: :p :eek: :mad: ;) :D :(

We are living in an age where hatred for American's is taught on a daily basis. Their is a whole generation who would give up their lives to distroy our country.

With this in mind and looking back over the acts of terror that our country has endured over the last 10 years it's a difficult job to be President.

Bush may be President, but remember it's the Congress, Senate and Big Businesses that run our country.

I am not a republican, but can honestly say given the hand Bush has been dealt he has not done that badly.

No one wants to hear day after day about the loss of lives we are forced to deal with. Everyone a gift taken from us. With every life comes a question, What are we doing in Iraq? Who took us there? And why? Are we making more enemies? So many questions and no true answers.

How bad of a President has Bush been? In my opinion not the best, yet not the worst.

Oh, puhleeze...reopen the debate board! I really don't want this junk on the CB! If I liked the DB, I would venture over there. These options are terrible, BTW! Personally, I like President Bush.

Save FDR, I never had a problem with the "old" Democrats. Kennedy understood what a national threat was. He also understood the benefits of lowering taxes. Given the country's situation today, and given how GW Bush as spent like a drunken sailor on domestic issues, I'd take a John F, Kennedy any day.

Given there is no more debate board, wouldn't the simple solution be not opening the thread?

Are you kidding me? I can't remember a President in my lifetime who's willing to do what he thinks is right, no matter the political fallout. Most of the Presidents have been politicians who bend and twist whichever way the political wind blows - like John Kerry. Bush, on the other hand, makes the tough decisions as best he can and stands his ground. His refusal to dance the usual political dance is often misinterpreted by his enemies, who call it "arrogance". The rest of us just call it "backbone". ;)
