I've only used it once, but I think how busy the park is (as well as how much time you have) can factor into the value as well. We were there for just one day the last week in August when the parks were pretty dead. There were four of us (2 adults, 2 DCs 8 and 12) and were going commando, hitting 3 parks in one day, and decided to invest in Genie+ to try it out. Even though it might have seemed counterintuitive to pay for it on a low attendance day, I feel like it was really worth it for us. While none of the standby waits were ridiculous that day since it was so quiet, it was still really nice to have our favorite rides cue'd up for us, given we were trying to pack a lot into one day. I didn't feel tethered to my phone - when we stepped off one ride, we'd simply book another ride, and do short standby rides/attractions in between. Not sure we'd have had the same experience on a super crowded day, but I loved how it felt more like old school fastpass in a way on a quiet day.
