Is five nights long enough for a split stay?

I have split stays before, and personally I wouldn't do it again , much less if it's only 5 days , but that's just me. I hate packing and unpacking and when I'm on vacation I only want to do that once. Also there's a chance that the day you do the switch , your room at the CR may not be ready until check in time , and if you have little ones, that could make your day miserable.
