Is Easter Sunday Busy?

I'm just planning a visit around Easter and one of the things I need to know if all the parks are busy on Easter Sunday?

The reason I'm asking is that two or three years ago we went to Seaworld on Easter Sunday and it was really quiet especially in the morning. Is Disney the same or is it just the fact that EVERYONE was at Disney.

Easter Morning is quiet, presumably because people are going to church and having special holiday breakfasts and opening Easter baskets. But trust me ... by about 11am, when all those suger-infused kids (and grown-ups) start heading to the parks, you don't want to be there! :p

Seriously, though ... it will get more busy as the day goes on, and by noon, MK in particular will be packed.

How about the Friday and Saturday prior to Easter Sunday? Any suggestions about which park on which day? I'm going down for 3 days prior to my cruise and don't really care much about going to the parks, but might want to pop into EPCOT and MK for a bit... so I was trying to think if EPCOT might be best on the Saturday and MK on Friday?

Crowds will be higher than normal, and MK will be crowded no matter which day you choose. However, you're better off in MK on a weekday than on a weekend, just in general.

Just out of interest what's usually the quietest days and parks over the easter weekend (fri - mon)

Three most crowded weeks of the year at WDW are: Christmas week, week before Easter, week that begins with Easter. MK is hugely crowded everyday during that Easter break time and then on Easter Sunday it is even worse (also as to MK the day after Easter, a Monday, almost matches Easter Sunday). However, on Easter Sunday Epcot and often the other parks other than MK have their lightest day of the period (because most everyone goes to MK; note that is relative -- they are still very crowded just lighter than other days). Also, Epcot's second lightest day is the day before Easter, same usually for Animal Kingdom.

Also, something to to be aware of if you are thinking of hitting MK on Easter Sunday: contrary to what many believe when they go there on Easter Sunday, absolutely nothing takes place on Easter Sunday at MK that you cannot see other days of the week.

Exactly the info I needed too! Which day the week following Easter would you recommend for MK?

Yes I agree, Easter Sunday is very crowded in MK (been there done that), but Epcot is usually not too bad. We like Epcot since it is so huge it never really feels crowded. The whole week is crowded, but I would wait until after Monday to hit MK. It is a very busy time, but the upside is the weather is almost always perfect!!

ENJOY!!

The farther you get away from Easter Sunday, the better you are. Most people will start traveling home on Monday, to be back at work and school on Tuesday. But if you're staying the whole week after Easter, things will begin to calm down on Wednesday and Thursday, provided you don't have cheerleaders, marching bands, soccer players or AAU anything in competition. That time of year is very popular at WDW!

Have you heard of anything else going on during that week?
(other than spring break)

I read somewhere that MK has an *Easter* theme during the afternoon parades that week. Does anyone know if this is true?

There's usually an Easter-themed pre-parade float, but the parade itself does not look any different during that week.

We will be there the week after Easter Sun Apr 18 - Apr 24. Tried to avoid the spring break crowd. The end of that week is 'grad days'. I think that was the term. The parks close early to the public and high school students are bused into the parks. On Apr 22 the MK closes at 6:30 and Apr 23 it closes a 7:00.
