Is early May a busy time?

Our visits are always in the summer. We have also gone for Spring break (April) and Christmas...but I was curious if the first week of May was a busy time? I was really surprised to learn there are not any studios available at any resorts except SSR. I realize it is February, but I just did not think the first few days of May would be all that busy. :confused3

The weather is good, the Flower and Garden may have started so it could be. It could also be that it is popular with DVC but not necessarily at WDW in general. I also think that is when they have some of the grad nights but that shouldn't impact room availability at DVC. We used to go that week a lot and the last couple of times it was busy- not like Christmas or Easter but busy. Now we travel in Sept for the combination low points and less people.

I think grad week is the first week of May. We're usually there the second to third. The crowds are moderate at best. 15 minute wait times for splash mountain is great! A lot of the roads at MK we could walk on, including space mountain. We love May because the weather is just right!

And to castleri, go PATS!

We typically go the first week of May and the crowds are not that bad. The weather is mid to upper 80's, but not as humid as later in the year. We think it's a good time to go.

Good to hear! We will be at BCV from May 4th to 9th. Can't wait!

Oh, yeah.......GO PATS!!

Grad Nights are earlier this year - April 18, 19, 25, 26.

I went the first or second week of May from 2000 to 2005 and it was a great time to go! It can start to get hot - sometimes lower 90's. Very little rain, not very humid.

DVC resorts usually operate at or near capacity most times of the year. A "not busy" DVC time just means it takes longer to get to that point (sell out). Once you get to the 3 or 4 month mark, choices are very limited - especially for the smaller resorts. That's what you are running into right now. But give the waitlist a try (if you haven't already). You just never know.

Good luck!

We were there the first weekend in May. Absolutely loved it! Wonderful weather, not elbow to elbow in the parks.

Just sorry the boys won't get that long weekend this year. :sad2:

Wish I had known that before I made plans. Thanks for the info.

Early May is a wonderful time to go. I'll be there, studio BCV, from April 30 to May 5th. We have just recently bought in to BCV, because that's where I always want to be for the F&G. Until this year, I always booked BWV and then at 7 months exactly, but not day by day, I was always able to switch. Now that I have BCV I didn't have to switch, but at 7 months out, I did add on the April 30th. So, I think if you had tried to get into BCV at 6-7 months, you would have been luckier.

Bobbi:goodvibes

The Minnie Marathon is the first weekend in May and might be booking things up.

Easter is March 23, so grad nights are going to be earlier this year.

I think early May is now our favorite time of year to go. I found it a little hot last May, but I didn't find the crowds to be any different than when we went the last week of September. Even scored a 2BR at the Beach Club a few months out too. Garden festival is great, especially for experienced WDWers who like to relax and stroll!

May is great weather in Orlando - not as humid as in the later summer months. Spoke to MS who has been a native for 20 years - says May is her favorite time - weather and crowd wise at MK. On 02/01, was able to book VWL 2 bdrm for 5 nights - no problems whatsoever.

I will be there May 4-8 I hope it is not to crazy when I called last week they only had rooms left at Saratoga Springs for 1 bedrooms. I love Saratoga so that is ok.
