Is DP worth it with no sit down meals?

DH and I are taking DD 19, DS 13 and DD 10 to WDW in June. We don't care about doing any character dining nor do we really care about taking the time to do many sit down restaurants. Do you think the DP is worth it if don't plan to use it for sit-down meals or are we better off paying for each meal, snack as we want them?

The major part of the dining plan is the table service meal.

Why would you pay $37 a day per person for a snack and counter service meal?

TS and CS are not interchangeable on the regular DDP so you would only be getting about $17.00 in value for your $37. I'd skip it and save the $$. If you went with DXDDP your OOP cost would be around $68--all credits could be used for CS and you'd only get about a $42 value from it. I'd still skip it and just pay cash as you go!

If your DD was like ours was when she was younger, as soon as she got hungry that is where we instantly started to look for a place to eat. No planning ahead in those days was better for us. The DDP takes lots of planning ahead and if you don't use the TS you will loose out big time. There are plenty of CS places to eat OOP. Also the less time wasted eating or waiting to be seated to eat means more ride time and thats what the younger ones like.
These days our DD19 and DS21 are older and would rather eat the TS so the DDP works for us now and the planning ahead and making the ADR's is fun for us.

Pay as you go, unless you can get the plan for free.

The Dining Plan is only worth it if you use each aspect of it to the fullest. It is a pre-payment plan, not a discount plan.

If you are interested in counter service only, it would be counterproductive to buy the dining plan. Most of the value in the plan comes from the table service meals.

If you got "free dining" it would cover only one counter service meal per night of your stay, and you'd have to pay extra for the deluxe plan which could concievably cover 3 counter service meals.
