Is double booking different PS's impolite or good WDW strategy?

I first booked my trip one way - then another way - Then I booked PS's - then I booked them another way -

Now I have PS's through the wazoo some 25 or so - I canceled duplicates that you have to pay for so there is only one Fantasmic package, one 1900 Park Fare etc, one spirit of Aloha... etc. But for others I noticed that if we should decide to go to a different park then I have PS's at different parks on the same day... So if we change plans we still have good PS's

So question is - is this just a good planning technique? or do you think it rude?

It think it is both.....

Lord knows you need to make reservations for various circumstances, but all of my PSs are at inconvenient times because of all the booking and double booking and triple booking......

Do you mean two PS's for the exact same time? I think someone on here said that they did that and Disney automatically cancelled one of them.

Ah good question - no they are for different restaurants at close to but dissimilar times

Personally, I have had no luck getting a ps for prime
time, I hope it isn't because others are double booking,
thus eliminating others from getting their legit ps's.
that is all I"M going to say..................... :badpc:

when are you going?

I know I'd be annoyed if I was trying to get a PS somewhere and I could not because of people doing things like this.

I know it seems like a good strategy, but it isn't necessary to make 25 or so PS's. Figure out the ones you really want to go to this year and make plans to try different ones the next time you're there. That's what my husband and I do now. We try different places each year that way we're not stopping someone else from having a chance either.

While I understand why you are doing this, I think that it may get to a point that so many do this that they will start insisting on credit cards to hold ALL PSs and charge for no shows or late cancellations. Just cancel them as soon as you know you aren't using them whether thats two weeks, two days or two hours b4 the PS time. I guess I fall into the category of kinda understandable, but kinda rude. I can never seem to pick one side of a fence!

Enjoy your trip!

I think it is fine if you are making a second one because you are not sure you can make it to the first one on time so you have a second security one.

I would think that it is rude if you have two just because you can not decide where you want to go yet.

In any case, at least cancel the one you are not going to use as soon as you realize it. There are people calling up to the minute trying to get them.

You can also try this strategy. We have decided on a rest. then called to get a PS while we are on the walk to it. We were seated right away while other people who didn't have PSs were sitting waiting. They keep the PS spots open until pretty much the last minute. It never hurts to try.

hmmm...I guess you could ask yourself how you'd feel if you weren't able to get a PS you really wanted because someone else overbooked PS'...

Hiya.

I think it is unfair.

If you book a couple of PS well inadvance when you may be unsure of where you are going to be then fine, BUT I would expect you to cancel all but the one you will be using once your plans are finalised.

If you cant decide where you are going to be on any given day then that is a risk YOU should have to take and nobody else should be PS-less because of this.

MGM is notorious for releasing later PS times about 3 weeks prior, so keep trying.

MKING624, I just want to say hello from a former Louisvillian! We kinda miss the ville, but we can not complain about the weather here in SW Florida.

Hi UKcatfan!! My husband and I are originally from Chicago...just here for school (nope, not UofL...we're not fans of them LOL). It's nice here, but we definitely plan on moving to Florida some day. :)

(sorry to get off topic, everyone!!)

Overall I'd say figure out what park you want to visit when and stick with that. It does seem unfair to hold PS's for the same day - both for dinner for example - and you know you'll only use one of them. If the CM's bother to look they can see that you are holding PS's that you can't possibly keep.

My son has food allergies and diabetes so our PS's are set in stone at some point - I really can't change plans easily because I have to arrange his meals with the chef in the sit down restaurants. Some of the chefs really go the extra mile in helping me out so I'm making it there - even if I run late or whatever I'd show up.

I do think that Disney makes it hard to get PS's right off the bat that you want to keep. They don't release later times or whatever so you make earlier ones, then have to keep calling back, then finally you get later ones. One PS change can affect my schedule quite a bit - making it necessary to rearrange other PS's. After awhile I have trouble keeping up with it all

One of the most difficult things about a Disney vacation is having to make plans so far in advance. My DH and I would prefer to be more spontaneous on vacation and just decide the night before what we'll do the next day and where we will have dinner. But we realize that if we want to be guaranteed that we'll get in to particular restaurants then we have to make PSs for those restaurants far in advance, so that is what we do. We also realize that everyone else is in the same boat, so I would never make multiple PSs for the same meal. It just isn't fair to be sitting on a stack of PSs, many of which will not be used and will be cancelled at the last minute, forcing others to call and call and call Disney Dining just waiting and hoping for a cancellation.

So, we make a plan in advance and we make only the PSs we need. Most of the time we stick to the plan but if we need to make a change once we're there, we call Disney Dining and hope for the best. If we can't get what we want at the last minute, then we stick with the original plan or settle for whatever we can get. I guess what I'm saying is, we accept that our plan may turn out to be less than perfect, but that's OK, especially if the alternative is to overbook PSs making life difficult for others just so we can have the perfect vacation.

I think it's unfair. There are a lot of people also trying to make a PS for someplace they fully intend to go to and spots are filled by people who aren't going to show up. Seems like an excellent way of clogging up the system and forcing Disney to go to a reservation system. Those are my thoughts, anyway.

I'll also say I can understand why people would want to do this because it would make it easier. The curse of the planning people!! We really try to cover our bases, don't we? :rotfl:

Have a great vacation. :flower:

Sorry to be harsh but to me this is the height of selfishness. Just becuase Disney lets you do this does not mean it is good behavior.

While it is good technique for you so that you have the most flexibility it comes at the expense of others. By your doing this you will stop other people that are planning in advance from going to the places you have double booked. Yes, they could maybe get a ressie day of but if they have already committed elsewhere, unlike you, they will most likely not try.

I know with our trip it is difficult to decide when to go to Chef Mickeys. I could just make a ressie for every morning and then go on whatever day we feel like it. It would be like having a guaranteed walk up. But if we did that then I know other people that want to take thier children to Chef Mickeys would miss out. So we are picking a day and keeping to it.

I hope if you think about what you are doing you will realize that this is not the right thing to do and alter your PS accordingly.
