Is doing CRT & Akershus in one trip too much?

We are going for 8 days in Feb and I was able to book both CRT (dinner) and Akershus (breakfast). In your opinion, is that too much? I have an almost 3 yo daughter who is very into princesses and a 4 1/2 yo son who honestly kind of likes the princesses too. I just don't want to feel like we overloaded on princesses.

We have other character meals booked during the week as well - a dinner at Chef Mickey's and a breakfast @ Tusker House. We will also be having dinner at Trex one night.

I wish Disney had a Pixar character meal or something - if we could do a Toy Story meal I think my kids would keel over from excitement!

Edited to add: I have had CRT booked for ages but just booked Akershus b/c Ariel is the FAVORITE princess around here and I heard she's more likely to appear there than at CRT...

Not if you really like princesses (and can afford both). Wouldn't count on great food (especially from CRT) but there will be princesses galore.

We are going while my husband is at a conference down there, so our resort stay is going to be expensed - that allows us some financial freedom on this trip to splurge a bit!

I sure hope it's not too much-we are doing the same thing next weekend!

Breakfast @ CRT, then lunch the next day @ Akershus.

DD5 went berserk at Akershus in September 2009-easily the best thing she did that trip.

We decided to pay OOP for our CRT breakfast rather than use up two meal credits. The fact that it is breakfast makes it cheaper and gives us even more reason to NOT use our credits there.

We did this in September and are going to be doing it again in May. We absolutely love Akershus breakfast and cannot go to Disney without eating there, as for CRT, there is nothing like eating in the castle. We do enjoy the dinner more than the breakfast, but it really is the atmosphere that we go there for. Have a great trip.

we did both and I loved the food and atmosphere of both I did think it was a bit too much, my daughter was beginning to think that every meal came with princesses! Given that we are torn on the next trip as to which to eliminate.

We have done both places on the same trip with our son and daughter. You said CRT for dinner. We did as well and saw the fairy godmother and Cinderella. So, at Akershus you will see the other princesses. We found at Akershus the princesses spent more time with the kids. We even have pics of them kissing my son on the cheek. He was in heaven.

They changed CRT to princesses at dinnertime now, too. It's princess-a-go-go in there! :goodvibes

What? Too many princesses? Never heard of such a thing!!! Last year we did CRT, Aukershus, hunted down Jasmine, 1900 Park Fare (if that counts)...I can't even remember but I think we did every princess thing there was! Oh, Bippity Boppity Boutique.....this year we are gonna take a break and let the princesses have a year off. We are gonna harrass Mickey Mouse this year!!

As the mom of three boys and a loyal Minnie fan since age two, I have never been to a princess meal. But now, our youngest son (a pre-schooler) LOVES the princesses and asked to have "dinner with Belle" for his birthday. He also wanted to have a "meal with princesses in the castle." So we have Akershus for dinner this Saturday night and CRT for breakfast on Sunday morning - I think it will be fun!

Glad to hear that other pre-school boys are enjoying the princesses! Have a great time! :wizard:

We did this on our trip in Dec. DD turned 3 and the boys are ages 6 and 9 and they never complained about seeing princesses. I think they actually liked it. ;) In answer to your question -- no! You will enjoy both of them.

We LOVED Akershus Breakfast, the food was some of the freshest we had during our trip ! We have ADR's this time for Dinner and lunch at CRT. I don't feel as though its too much AT ALL, I am the Mother of a fellow princess obsessed 3 year old ;)

You have made me feel so much better! I am really looking forward to these meals. I have never, ever eaten at CRT and I am afraid I may cry!

DD turned 5 while at Disney in Oct. We did CRT, Akershus, 1900, Chef Mickey. She loved it and we had fun too. The food was so so but as I told my dh your paying for the atmosphere and experience! DH and I can go out and eat a nice meal sometime by ourselves but at Disney its all about the kids! btw, forgot to mention did BBB too!

we did both askerus for breakfast and a dinner on another day at crt in one trip. my granddaughter is head over heels for the princesses and we had a great time. i thought the breakfast at askerus was better than the dinner at crt but taking a child inside to eat at the castle is a must do at least once imo. if they're big into cinderella 1900 park fare is a lot more fun than the other two. the step sisters are absolutely hysterical so it's a little different experience as compared to the other two. food is a buffet...just ok - typical disney buffet.

Just depends on if you can afford it and if you don't think you'll have princess overload. We had breakfast at CRT back in September and we thought it was wonderful. Our waitress was VERY good and the food was quite good plus it is all you can eat. Our waitress always brought us extra of anything we wanted, it was fast too. The princess interaction was pretty good. We had Belle, Aurora, Snow White, Ariel, and of course Cinderella was downstairs for pictures. So, it is possible for Ariel to be there and I have heard that she is there more often now because they closed her grotto. They don't want to deny people the chance of meeting her just because of that. They were all pretty good except for Belle. She was in and out VERY fast and barely even said a word. Actually, Ariel was our favorite out of all of them. She talked to us for the longest and kept coming back to see us. Aurora was also very good. I feel like the picture process that is downstairs before you go to eat is kind of rushed though. The dining experience is MUCH better. They made everyone go in and out very fast, barely giving you a chance to talk to Cinderella. Also, the photographer was very rude and the charcter greeter wasn't very nice about anything either. Also, the pictures they took of us with her SUCKED. Many of the other Photopass Photographers that took our pictures while at WDW were MUCH better. I was really hoping we'd get some nice photos to remember that experience by cuz we probably won't be able to come back for a long time. I was quite disappointed in the whole photo session thing. They were just focused on taking the picture and getting you out of there. The view of Fantasyland from the dining room is VERY nice though. We weren't sitting right by it, but were relatively close and it was WONDERFUL! I think part of the reason for going to CRT is for the experience of eating in that castle and that just feels great! The wishing ceremony they perform at CRT is cute if you have little girls. It does get kind of annoying though because they do it like every 15 minutes. When the princesses come out and the speaker comes on to tell you their story is quite cute. Moreover, the overall experience is nice. I would do it again if given the chance and I would recommend it! :thumbsup2

This. Exactly. We even went in September and are going back in May, LOL!!!

Ahh, I see. That is good then so more little ones can see the princesses. For dinner at CRT we had the Fairy Godmother, Cinderella down stairs before the meal for a photo op, and there was two of the mice from the movie with the Godmother as well.

If they have made that change..., what can we expect for CRT for breakfast this upcoming trip?

We did all 3 last trip as well. (CRT dinner, at the time with the fairy godmother and Cindy downstairs, 1900 PF dinner, and Akerhus dinner) We loved them all, and my DD was thrilled.
We had one of the last seatings at CRT for the night and Cinderella was waiting for one more family to arrive, so while we waited to be called up, Cindrella came over and sat with DD and had a nice chat. My DD was over the moon. It was also our arrival day and that made a great start to the trip. We plan to do all 3 next trip if possible, but doing breakfast for all this time around instead.
