Is DLR really Haunted?

I've heard a couple stories of people dying in DL, so I wonder, would the spirits of those people stay behind? I've heard a couple of ghost stories, not sure how much truth is in them. Any of you have any DL ghost stories or experiences you want to tell?

Now, not sure how true:confused3 this is, but there is a story about a mother who placed her son's ashes in the haunted mansion in the part where the floating head is in the house and people have said that sometimes they see an image of a man. Also, there is another story about a mother who was riding the matterhorn bobsleds with her children and she stood up to check on her children who were seated behind her and fell out of the car onto the tracks and another bobsled ran over her. Like I said before, I have read these stories on another website and don't know how much is actually true so take it with a grain of salt.

There's lots of stories about everything from ashes being scattered (and picked up by staff moments later) to some gruesome deaths on faster rides -- never taken the time to research which are true but I'm sure there have been a few big accidents over the years.

I know this is a fairly obvious statement but I would guess that everyone's answer is going to be driven by whether or not they believe in ghosts/ spirits in the first place. If you believe those things exist than it wouldn't be hard to find signs supporting haunting on some rides or around the park but if you don't then of course you wouldn't believe it unless something came up and talked to you.

I've made many, many trips myself during busy days, empty days, friday the 13ths, halloweens and never saw anything I didn't have an explanation for or anything that needed one for that matter but I'm sure you could find people who did. A lot of it is really about your own sense of the world and how you respond when you do see something.

Quick follow up... I checked around and according to snopes.com (which is highly reliable for good quality research especially about public facts) there have been nine deaths in the park's history, the most recent in 2003 on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and before that in 1998 with the Columbia ship.

That was where I was going to suggest looking, they've got some great Disney stories there, they're even fun to read, even if it specifically says they're not true...

It's not a surprise that a park as old as DL has had so many accidents. There have been a good number of fatalities in WDW as well. Most of them were due to guests choosing not to follow rules.

Yup. 9 in over 50 years is insanely low if you ask me (or if you look at other parks with just a fraction of the visitors). Also consider that 7 out of those 9 were considered "rider fault" for various reasons. The lesson being: Don't unbuckle your seatbelt and you've got very, very little odds of having an issue.

I think there are thousands, if not millions, of ghosts in Disneyland. They are the ghosts of Carefully Planned Budgets that were murdered when their creators saw something in a store that they just had to buy.

The gutters of Main Street USA run green with the blood of the slaughtered Budgets every day, and the ghosts haunt the stores, urging more people to spend spend spend so they can expand their numbers.

In high school I did a report on the urban legends of DLR, according to that research no one has ever been pronounced dead in the park, always just out side or at the hospital. However there are a lot of ghost stories about teh park, but I think that's the same with any place that's been around a while and is popular.

I don't believe it is haunter at all. JMO

And any ashes that have been dumped on rides most likely ended up in vacum cleaner bags.

What about that story about the couple who always ride Peter Pan last at night? I heard about that on here. Eerie! I might pee my pants if I see that... so now I stay away from there at closing!

:lmao:

Okay, that is the 3rd post in a row that I have read today that has made me spill my drink from laughter. Thank you! (for the laugh, not the water on the keyboard ;) )

We had a whole thread on this about 6 months ago. You can search the archives. There were some fun stories on it!

I guess there have been a couple of similar threads. Here is the link to one of the threads with stories of 'haunted' Disneyland:

But, if you'll notice, in the first post of that thread, the OP refers to yet another Haunted Disneyland thread that Nancy must have started. Nancy - maybe you have your original Haunted Disneyland thread in your subscription list and can post the link here?? That's how I always find old threads so quickly - I have many of them in my Sub list in the User CP section, OR I have the old e-mail alerts in my e-mail box.

Never ever seen anything ...:rolleyes1
And the only spirits that were around on Christmas Day at DL were the reminants of what we had consumed the night before

;) :lmao:

Do you mean bad hair day lady and her emaciated gentleman friend? Because they are there but they are not ghosts.....I've seen them quite a few times, they seem to be very friendly and nice but they do always have to be last on Peter Pan. :)

:rotfl2:

Imagine that!

"Stay away, kids, those are the Peter Pan ghosts!"

"We're not ghosts!"

"Goodness me, they talk! Well, don't talk back to them, you'll only provoke them."
